Love to craft so obviously love to go to Michaels, so decided to have my daughters 10th birthday here. Sadly I was greatly disappointed.
Was promised the craft room with staff member who would remain in the room for the entire time, prep for the projects, instruct the party goers and clean up. Also included was a special apron for the birthday girl. All I had to do was purchase whatever materials would be needed for the crafts.
We arrived 15-20 prior to the start of the party, as I was instructed to do, and went straight to the craft room which was a mess, there was stuff scattered on the tables and there was no staff member to be seen. I went in search of someone and they said they would inform them that we had arrived. 10 minutes later a staff member showed up, she had no idea that there was a party scheduled and had nothing prepped so needless to say everything started late.
I had planned to have the girls tie dye T-shirts and make friendship bracelets. When the staff member saw the bracelet making kit that I purchased, (one that was recommended for use at the party by another staff member the previous week), she informed me she had no idea how to make them. She got started on dying the shirts with the girls and then informed me as they were finishing up this first craft that she would be leaving us to go to lunch soon and her manager would be in to take over.
After waiting 15 minutes I finally went to the front of the store and reminded them that we had a party going on back there and that the girls were sitting there doing nothing. Another staff member came back and finally got the friendship bracelets started. She however left before the party had finished as well.
A third staff member came at one point and apologized and said they had been very busy due to the open house, I then reminded her that she was the one who booked my party and I specifically asked her if having a party on the day of an open house would be a problem and she guaranteed me that it wouldn't be and that we would be well taken care of. She offered to let us use the room for an additional half hour which was pointless since parents were picking up the girls at a given time and most had to leave right away.
We finally thanked and said goodbye to all of our guests, picked up our things and left, no one there to see if we needed anything. I had to go to the front and remind them of my daughters apron which was not what I expected at all, very cheap looking.
I will continue to shop at Michaels but this will definitely be the last party I have there and will not be recommending their parties to any...

have a voice that āāāwelcomesāāā you into the aisle youāve walked in [e.g.: Welcome to the Jewelry section/ Fine Arts Section/ Yarn] that might as well tell you āWe Are Watching Your Every Moveā have cameras in the aisle that ZOOM IN ON YOUR FACE???? are most people who come in here looters? or are they paying customers who are now being watched like thieves????? im so glad i still wear a mask, not only to protect myself from covid, but to keep MICHAELS CRAFT STORE from selling my biometric data to whatever company they have employed to surveil customers like prisoners, that im 90% sure they are getting a discount for. there is no way people have stolen to the point this is necessary. there is no way people have stolen enough from michaels to justify what i imagine is at least a $10k system
i think its so funny to have self check out in this place. which doesnt work btw, it scanned one of my items twice and i had to wait for a manager to help me, who then watched me scan the rest of my items as if EYE was the one who made the mistakeā¦ā¦ self checkout has a camera on your face and body, two separate cameras for a machine that makes mistakes. i cannot wait for the next time i go there, which will not be soon, for the machines to be shut down because theyre already...

I bought a Canvas for $19.99 last week and tried to returned today on 04/12/ 2025, however; the staff told me that the Canvas I returned was not matching with the receipt I presented to them. When they scanned the canvas I returned it was showing for $16.99 which was less than what I paid for. After talking to Esme and her manager for 15 minutes they told they couldnāt do anything to refund me the $19.99 back, instead that they were only able to refund me what the returned canvas was showing on their system which was only $16.99. They literally refunded me less than what I paid for on the same canvas. I usually donāt care too much about the difference on this type of money but today I felt like I got scammed and it wasnāt a good feeling.
