Zankou Chicken — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I just want to be honest with this review, I don’t want anybody to fall the same mistakes I did ordering food on this location (Granada Hills). I read some of the good and bad reviews and pretty much I did not listen to my instincts that if you find bad reviews in couple of months or just a year with different people - That’s a RED FLAG not to buy food on that location.

Before and during (2021) pandemic we buy our food here couple of times and they were great, tasty and juicy but now it’s not the same quality of food that they were used to. The Shish Kabob the taste is just like your eating a lowest quality of Top Sirloin Steak with pepper and salt not the real authentic flavor of Mediterranean food plus it’s like your eating a rubber. I was surprised the owner or managing this place did not take an action with the negative reviews - They should improve not degrade.

1 star is for the food is ready when I pick up and it’s hot and there is no missing items.

I love Zankou and this one doesn't disappoint! So far, I've only been to this location a couple of times because it's sorta far from my home but it's been worth the drive. They season the chicken perfectly! I will mention that I've gotten the half chicken plate both times and the first time it came with two packs of pita bread (two in each pack) but the second time it only came with one pack, which was disappointing. Not sure what the standard amount should be but some consistency in that would be great. Also, the wings have been a little dry and hard to eat but the rest of the chicken has been good.

Overall, the service has been quick and probably the fastest food prep I've seen from a Zankou. I definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a quick option for delicious chicken.

Keep in mind, the parking lot is a little busy but I haven't had trouble finding a spot right out front. There also isn't much seating inside the restaurant and there's nowhere comfortable to stand while you wait for your order. It definitely has "hole in the wall" vibes even though it's in a nice location. I don't care though, as long as the food keeps coming out the way...

So I never write negative reviews because usually the customer service is fine anywhere I go. I also work in customer service so I know how it can be and even if there’s an issue they do their best to fix the situation. Sadly that wasn’t the case here. Placed an order online and when we went to pick up, we were told they never got an order. So we showed proof of purchase and showed the email receipt. You’d think this was enough for them to help in some way. But no. The manager/owner Joe said that wasn’t enough proof and that because nothing showed up on their end, whatever proof we had didn’t matter. Not sure if he thought we were somehow showing a fake receipt or something. The worst part was he kept calling me “bro” and he said to not even bother going above him because he was also the owner. The entitlement was disgusting. Honestly never had anything like this happen. It was kind of crazy. Anyway terrible experience with him specifically. Really not sure what else we could provide other than the receipt that shows the order, payment, date and time. Literally all the details there. And he did nothing to help us out in any way.
