I stayed here after my knee replacement surgery, at first it was a little bumpy some of their workers, I felt, were just there for a pay check and others there for their compassion to help people in need, but I did speak up and it helped a little but I still feel there is work to be done on training the aides and some crew that helps us. Half the time I would have to run after my meds that was annoying and one nurse messed up on my scheduled medicine and I wasn’t able to take it that night and that’s unacceptable but nothing happened to her. Nothing was said so that was disappointing. But there are staff and nurses there that went beyond to help you and for that I appreciate them very much. I do have to give a shout out to Carmen for keeping me busy with bingo and painting and all the other activities she has planned I was never bored. And GiGi for really being there for me. Evelyn and Kevin were really good they know their stuff, There are many other people there that I want to thank. I would give it a five star because it’s not a bad facility, they just need to work on certain things and it’s too loud at night and early in the morning that needs to change we are there to rest and get better this made me anxious. But, I would recommend this place, it’s a short term rehab which is good. I had PT 5x’s a week and they were all awesome. I’m home healing very well now, I’m back to my normal life and my knee feels great. If I have to get the other knee done or something else I would go back so they better...
Read moreI was recently a resident of the Gardens Healthcare Rehabilitation Center. I was there for 3 months. There’s always good and bad things no matter wherever you need to recuperate. The upside that I would like mention and give some shoutouts to several staff members who deserve to hear how pleased I was with their care and sincerity to help and provide an A+ experience. Carmen, Supervisor of the Recreation room, including her new staff. She encouraged me to join in on the activities, instead of staying plastered in my room. Her uplifting character made me feel very welcome, including her singing, dancing and enjoying conversations. The PT & OT staff were very kind & professional. My thank you to the entire department, especially Rosemary. Although I didn’t have the need to work with Michael, Speech Specialist, he brought his wit into my being. The Supervisory & Head Nurses thank you, Jayden, Bellinder, Mildred, Maria & more. The Medication Nurse's, Gustavo, Ricky, Justin & Rachel. The CNA’s, Jennifer, Erikka, Christina, Maria, Elizabeth & more. Thank you to the Administrators, Rey & Caroline, Assistant for keeping in my room and not moving me out. The downside which must be known is that the food is horrible and to hire more qualified CNA’s, not 18 yr olds. Thank you to all who made my stay bearable...
Read moreMy mother was at The Gardens Healthcare Center (Brookdale) for 2 months. She is leaving this week, but sad to do so, because she had such a positive experience there. Everyone is caring and friendly and it is unlike other skilled nursing facilities. Because it's smaller, patients get more attention and it really is a community. We were very fortunate to have been able to get her in with wonderful help from Rey at admissions. They have activities scheduled everyday under the direction of Carmen and Caroline who are amazing and loving! They individualize their diets if necessary, and Michael not only monitors them, but makes them feel very comfortable (often with his wonderful sense of humor). The physical and occupational therapy is outstanding. Anna, the director analyzes needs every week. My mom had Juan as her main PT who was incredible. I always felt comfortable requesting and asking questions about specific medical needs for my mom. Angie, the main nurse was friendly and responsive to all of our needs. There are too many staff members to name who worked with my mom and they were all fantastic. I don't often write reviews, but I had to commend The Gardens and I obviously highly recommend it if you ever...
