First, we came here on a Friday evening, so keep that in mind as you read this review. My young daughter and I got our nails done in the same shopping plaza; she wanted pizza and I wanted sushi. So, we ordered her pizza (next door) and hopped on over to the sushi place for me. First thing I noticed is the music was super loud and it was crowded with glow art on the wall. The art was nice but the vibe was more like a club/bar combo, than a restaurant, honestly. It was a stark contrast from the calmness of the pizza place next door. I would go as far as to say it’s not an idea place to bring your kid to eat dinner on the weekend since it seemed there was a lot of college aged kids there to drink. If you enter through the front, near the pizza place, you’ll eventually realize no one is coming to greet you because the side door is the real entry with the hostess desk. There were 12+ employees working but all seem too busy to help new customers. The “hostesses” seemed to be tasked to do many things which made it hard for them to help incoming people (not their fault). Also, they can’t really hear you. I wanted a menu and they just pointed to the QR code because conversation was impossible with the loudness of the music. The menu online was confusing, maybe it wasn’t loading properly, so I tried to ask questions. The hostesses didn’t seem to know what was in the sushi, so she asked another girl who looked it up, told me and quickly took off. I had more questions but held my tongue because it was clear no one knew what was in the food and they could not hear me anyway. I ordered and verified that the tuna was cooked and one order was sufficient for a meal. I was told they would bring it outside to us when it was done. My daughter and I not only picked up the pizza and ate it, in the time it took to get one order of sushi, we also sat and talked for 30 minutes before we decided we needed to go look for my meal. Now, honestly, none of this was bad enough for me to write a negative review because there’s a niche for everything (even loud music, bars that happen to serve sushi) but the food and the amount of time it took to get it is what compelled me to write. First, the albacore was not cooked, like they said, it was raw (which is fine I eat raw fish but I was just told otherwise which is why I picked it) and it was not, for me, enough for a meal by itself IMO. Also, it was not worth $20 (4% fee added for using a credit card) for the amount (see pic, you decide). A little more and you could get all you can eat sushi in a lot of the restaurants in Northridge and Chatsworth without shouting or waiting 50 minutes for one small plate. So, all in all, if you want to have a place to drink with your friend and watch sports (with loud music) on the weekend, you may enjoy this spot. If you just want sushi at a reasonable price, in a reasonable time frame with attentive customer service, on the weekend, might not be the...
Read moreWAIT. STOP and read BEFORE you go to this place know you will be CHARGE an ADDITIONAL CHARGE of 4% if you use debit card or credit card. I didn’t see a sign before we went in. We didn’t see it while we were waiting. No one told me either. As I read reviews there was nothing about it. Maybe I missed it??? maybe this a new business thing? But it would have been better to know in advance. It’s interesting, when u do internet search on their business, it discloses their “$ revenue” but nothing about charging an additional 4% extra charge.
Food prices were reasonable. Food was good. However, we did get a plate that had a short hair stuck in the scallop. I had to give to the hostess bc waiters were not near us for a long time. I so wanted to take a picture of it but I didn’t want gross u out. I decided to just write about it. You can judge for yourself. The hostess took the plate back and we got a “redo.” there was no apology, no credit or no discount due to hair. :( The art work was cool and different. Music was a little loud for me yet for my high school kids, it was fun. Seating waiting was about 20 minutes. They told us it would take 5 minutes but it was Mexican time = 20 minutes. :) this time was normal time. we WAITED, waited and waited to be served for drinks and food - it took a LONG time. Once we got their attention, the waiter, GABRIEL, was very nice and attentive. There was one male waiter with dark glasses that was not too polite to us. We left it alone bc we were enjoying the food. Maybe if they have a table machine to place orders (like Olive Garden or chili’s) would work better for this business. This way the waiters don’t have to interact with us if they don’t want. It was very uncomfortable for us. Yet we made the best of it. Most likely we will not return. I do like and enjoy recommending places to others. However this one not so much. thank you...
Read moreThree visits. Last visit changed my mind. Have not been back since. First and second visits : Delightful fusion of mariscos and sushi. No hard liquor license but the soju cocktails will help you forget that really quickly. Day glo art, tasty large portions and interesting shot glasses will have you returning for more. I must say the 50 cent birthday song and enormous firecracker birthday candles for a group sitting next to us also added the good times had by all.
Enjoyed so much went back two more times.
Visit 3: Third time was NOT great. Went in on a Saturday afternoon. Maybe 3 other groups there. Waited 20 minutes for a server. Then ordered food and drinks. Half the food didn't come and the drinks never did. After hunting down the bartender, as the hostsess/waitress came back, we got the rest of the food and the drinks we were leaving. Bless that bartender. The hostsess/ waitress did come after I went to her station twice, and nearly fell out of my chair waving like a drowning sailor.... but never brought what we asked for. The bartender was very apologetic and did comp the drinks ( we didn't ask for that). Food was still great, well at least the food we ate. Who knows about the missing food items we never received? This experience was disappointing. There are other locations that we enjoy eating at, may not ever come...
