R Furniture — Local services in Los Angeles

We live in Northern California and I saw this bench on the R Furniture website and loved it so I ordered one for our craftsman/ranch style remodeled home in Los Altos. It came on time and is perfect in our little foyer. We get tons of compliments on it. It makes me happy everytime I look at it. It's like having a piece of the old world in my home. A while later, I ordered a custom size table and chairs for our family room(see photo). It took a while to receive them because they were a special order and were made in Peru. There were delays but it was WELL worth the wait! It's a one of a kind table and chairs with superior craftsmanship, old world charm and lots of soul put into each piece. We can use it as a game table, homework table and I had the width and height measurements made to go with our other long dining room table so it serves as an extension table for large gatherings at Thanksgiving . and Christmas(I put a long table cloth over the tables and everyone thinks it's one massively long table). I had the chairs made with extra padding and they are super comfortable. I wish I had the padding added to the bench because it is a little stiff but it's so beautiful who cares! Lance Reynolds and his wife were incredibly helpful with the whole design process sending me hand drawn sketches of the table and making changes to suit our needs. It was like having a custom suit made for us. If I ever get my dream mediterranean home(fingers crossed), I will have R Furniture make lots of pieces for it! Lance and his wife invest exceptional pride and attention to detail within the craftsmanship of their amazingly beautiful product line. The quality and care of these masterfully hand carved pieces are evident in the pictures available online; however, the true Peruvian artistry really comes to light in person! All of my furniture pieces arrived in immaculate condition and with a fresh coat of wax that brought out the richness in their staining technique. The deep carvings throughout the wood and leather create a multi-tone variation within the stain, creating a very dynamic design! I also purchased a " polychrome" side chair, a finish that I was unfamiliar with. It is just absolutely gorgeous and again, giving yet a different incredibly dynamic look where the leather carvings are further enriched with a blending of hand painted colors and/or stains. Lance is always available via text, phone call, or email to show me pictures of pieces in his warehouse and provide measurements. In addition, after passing on a mirror within his unbelievable inventory of reverse painted mirrors (as it just was not quite the length that I was needing), Lance helped facilitate for me to organize with his shipping company to swing by another local pick up to add a purchase that I made online. I would highly recommend this very professional seller! His expertise is furniture and when asked, he gave an honest opinion about interior design as well, preventing me from making a wrong turn with a great furniture piece placed in the wrong setting! I ordered a custom sized Mediterranean Revival Sofa. Whilst consulting with Lance I mentioned that we needed the sofa to feel comfortable as we'd be using it as a primary piece of furniture. He was enthusiastic about sharing ideas. Lance likes to find ways to innovate and as each new piece is made by hand it creates opportunities. We settled on adding springs to the seating area providing the extra padding we needed for comfort.

Once we approved the drawings, the order took longer than we had anticipated. Lance and his wife were proactive, providing updates along the way. The delays were largely a result of the inherent variables associated with working with a small independent shop in California making custom furniture with craftspeople in Peru.
