I have been going to andres since 1963 when I was just a kid living in the fairfax area, so when I walked into Grandes and saw Aron I was pleasantly Surprised ! You can't miss him ,white chefs jacket and he says hello to everyone. He really knows what he's doing. I now have been going to Grandes ounce a week since they opened and it's fantastic! Aron has worked every thing out as it takes time to train a restaurant staff everything runs smoothly I've tried everything and it's exactly like his flag ship restaurant on 3rd street! Great quality, humongous portions, and mushroom sauce to kill for, I put it on everything! Try the Sacchetti and you will be hooked for life and won't find a better one any where ! They used to have a gourmet restaurant on Wilshire blvd Andres Continental cuisine in Beverly Hill Where I used to get this very high end dish! So try the Sacchetti! My go to for years has always been a 1/2 and 1/2 with mushroom sauce and chicken breast smothered in the same mushroom sauce! Lasagna to die for and the greatest eggplant parmigiana! I always got several frozen orders of lasagna and eggplant when dining over the hill. But no need for that anymore. Don't forget to add the salad and garlic bread for an extra buck And pay no attention to the 1 or 2 star reviews Nothing is microwaved they must not know what a salamander oven looks like and the tiramisu is home made , so what ,it comes in a plastic container , it's great! It's not possible to have a gourmet meal for 2 for $21 but Aron does it every time Cafeteria style but very nice I was in the restaurant business all my life so I know quality when I see and taste it! Now that we're all old rock n rollers we deserve a break ! Thank you Grandes(Aron) for not just a break But incredible value and quality ! Only way it could be better is to charge a little bit more and have some weekend specials Oso Buco maybe or lamb shank...
ย ย ย Read moreLots of hype so we tried it on a Sunday. Around 12:30 no line to speak of (there was later!), but I would say way over-rated. Tried large spaghetti with meat sauce (sauce was nothing special but spaghetti alone with butter and parmesan was good), ravioli (luke warm) with mushroom sauce (very bland), meatball - $1 for tiny ball (tasted like a rewarmed frozen meatball) salad was ok... With 1 dressing, already tossed into salad, and chicken parmesan. Famous Cheese bread? Even that wasn't "all that." The rest...meh. Nice helpful staff... But forgot to bring chicken parmesan to us - I went up to ask about it and saw it was just sitting there. They then plated it for me. A nice worker gave me a freshly heated one, and took back the cold one that had been sitting. This ended up being the best tasting item we had. The 1 person working the register wasn't enough. She was overwhelmed and actually overcharged me. Got spaghetti sauce on the side instead of on my large spaghetti and she charged me for the sauce. Also a salad with a large pasta is $1 and she charged me $2. Suggestion: it's cafeteria style so serve salads and other not hot items first. By the time you get to the register and get rung up, the hot food you picked up first is already getting cold. I know they only recently opened this location so some disorganization is to be expected. Oh well... Lesson learned. We tried it and don't...
ย ย ย Read moreI'm not one to leave bad reviews but I feel obligated to post about my recent experience in hopes they do something about it. I have been a customer for over 14 years. We drive over an hour to dine there because we really do enjoy the food but the service continues to worsen. I placed my order and they got the sauce wrong. I walked up to the counter in a non confrontational manner to let them know and the cashier told the server that she had gotten it wrong. The server looked upset at the fact that I had returned it. She proceeded to remove the spaghetti and started to wipe off the sauce from the veggies with a napkin. I expressed that I couldn't consume the sauce she had poured. So she started to tell me that she was going to deliver it to my table but I knew she didn't want me to see what she was doing. At this point my husband got upset and asked for a new plate. The cashier continued to be nice and she tried to reason with the server but the server had walked away without an apology or anything. To be honest, it looked like she was returning the sauce that she had put on my spaghetti back to the main sauce pot. It saddens me that this is the kind of service they give now but we will not be returning to...
