As the saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.” I visited Sally Beauty the other day to purchase hair dye products for a DIY coloring session. I went in without doing my own research, expecting the staff to be well-trained and knowledgeable enough to guide me toward the right products. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I asked a store associate for help selecting the correct developer and dye. I even showed her a reference photo of the medium golden brown shade I wanted. She recommended a 20-volume developer paired with a medium golden brown dye. Trusting her recommendation, as she works in a beauty supply store, I followed her advice and the instructions exactly. The result? My hair turned out jet inky blue black, nowhere near the light, warm tone I was aiming for. Afterward, I did my own research and found out that for virgin, medium-thick natural black hair like mine, a 30 or 40-volume developer is usually required to high lift the color properly. A 20-volume developer simply wasn’t strong enough for the result I wanted. This experience taught me a hard lesson: don’t rely on store employees for technical advice unless they are licensed professionals. While the staff were friendly and offered good customer service, they lacked the in-depth expertise that hair color decisions require. They’re sales associates, not trained stylists or colorists. I’m not angry, just disappointed in myself for not doing my homework beforehand. My hair still looks okay, but it’s far from what I wanted. So if you’re planning a big color change at home, do your own research first or consult a licensed professional. Don’t assume the employees at beauty supply stores are equipped to guide you through the science of hair color.

Honestly your better off taking a further drive to another Sally’s. There is a woman that works there every time I go she’s there not sure if she is the manager she looks older always fixing things or on the iPad. she makes my shopping experience really uncomfortable. She makes me feel like she’s judging me, instead of being helpful she’s judge mental. Idk honestly if you are reading this the other one star reviews are not a reach. I’m sure the lady im talking about is the one being mentioned in all the...

Used to come here every week during my high school days when I dyed my hair all crazy. Just to buy hair dye and bleach I honestly love this store even till this day. The staff here are helpful Im not going to lie and at times they have deals for non Sally members. I used to be a member here 3 years back and its still pretty cheap till this day to be a standard member!. They send you coupons every week if your a part of a Sallys member. You should get if your into the beauty buisness or amateur...
