FOUND GUILTY OF FRAUD AND PASSING BAD CHECKS Hired Rye Jestin, co-owner of The Mod Barn a few months back to build a custom wallbed. The invoice said it would take 11-13 weeks. I paid them $10k upfront. As we got closer to the delivery date nearly three months later, I had not heard from them. When I emailed he told me that they had to respray several sheets and they needed three weeks for that. I figured OK this was a delay, but I could live with a month. As we get toward the end of that second month still no word. Not the greatest communicators I concluded. So I email only for him to say that more adjustments were necessary. Ok I figure give them more slack here on missing a second delivery. As we get to the end of that month they tell me that have to buy more sheets. Excuse after excuse now. Great. I ask myself if they are trying to rip me off because we are now into the sixth month on a three month due date. Still I wanted to give them every chance. They would skip on this delivery date and the next. Finally, after seven months and 4 missed installations, I spoke with his sister Wendy Jestin, the president of the company and I told them I need a hard date. Still can’t get one after all this time. They agreed to give me my money back. After all I paid them over $10k and received nothing – yes nothing. So I waited and waited and sent reminders but nothing. She did pay some of it with checks that bounced. I have contacted the agency about this to force them to pay. But nothing. I finally had to sue them and won and still they have not paid despite a court order. Rye and Wendy do not live up to their word or their contracts.
