UPDATE: Owner called me at 8:30 at night and has repeatedly texted me asking if I want her to process a cancellation of my membership. And I am not sure what is so "extremely unfair" about my review- everything I said is true. The last Hot yoga class I attended, I would be surprised if the temperature was above 80 degrees. Owner acknowledged to me via text that the studio was having issues with their heating system, so it might have been a result of that, I'm not sure. But to address her response, I've never been to a studio that was 120 degrees. Typically, the range is 98-104. What's more, the heat was not even my main issue with the studio- I mentioned multiple other things. I wrote this review to let other people know what to expect with this studio and it is based off my personal opinions and preferences, as all reviews are!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: If you're used to a high end studio like Sweat, Hot 8, or Y7, YogaSix just does not compare. I was a devotee of one of the above studios, going at least 5x/week, but I switched to Y6 because I have a health insurance plan that includes 4 classes/month at this location. After a month at Y6, however, I have decided to pay for an additional membership to another studio because I just really did not enjoy the experience here.
First, no locker rooms. Just lockers right outside the studio doors. Second, use of headset by the instructor makes you feel like you're in spin class or something and just takes away from the vibe of yoga. The room temperature is not even close to hot, even in "Hot" classes, most of the time. Last Hot class I went to, I didn't even break a sweat and the room was almost chilly until the last 5 minutes of class. The classes are not very challenging either, compared to other studios, where I would usually find myself utterly exhausted (in the best way) after sculpt/chizle classes.
My biggest complaint is the room. The lights are SO bright. Why?? I love dim/candlelit rooms without mirrors, not feeling like I'm in a 20 year old YMCA with distorted mirrors and bright red/blue/whatever lights. And this is a minor nitpick but I wish that they would put down brackets to mark where yoga mats should go, not just a dot, so it's easier to space out mats properly.
The pros: free and easy parking, great playlists, nice instructors, and free cold towels.
Overall: People seem to like it, but any serious yogi (or anyone looking for a tough workout) should...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was really hesitant to join a corporate fitness studio because I didnāt want the pursuit of āfitāness to crowd out my own sacred, spiritual practice of yoga. Two years later, I am happy to report that YogaSix Culver City provides an excellent balance of yogic values, while still giving a āgood workoutā.
Abigailās slow flow and Kelseyās power and restore classes are my lifeline during the week. I attended their classes so frequently and got so strong that eventually my body started to crave more of a challenge. In 2025 I added Rachelās sculpt and flow into my weekly workout routine. All three are excellent classes in their own way, providing varying levels of intensity. But what I really love is that these three teachers are exceptional at cultivating an environment of acceptance. What I mean is: even if I donāt āfeel likeā going to class, I know and trust that these 3 ladies will offer guidance and modifications for my varying energy levels and I will always leave having met my appropriate edge, and completely without shame (sometimes a girl needs an early savassana!).
Iāve never, ever, regretted one of their classes (or any classes at Y6!) and I always leave feeling so much better than I began. This studio rocks. Also? There are cold eucalyptus towels. Itās the little things...
Ā Ā Ā Read morerecently I visited YogaSix, and my experience was very disappointing. I arrived about 6-7 minutes late, and their policy states they donāt allow entry if youāre more than 5 minutes late. However, the receptionist mistakenly checked me in as if I had attended the class. She explained this to me and said, āSince it was our mistake, you wonāt be charged.ā I agreed and left.
Later, I discovered they still charged me, which felt like it was done out of spite because I had expressed my frustration before leaving. This level of unprofessionalism was shocking.
As for the class itself (from a previous experience), it was incredibly slow-paced. If youāre expecting a yoga session that challenges your body or burns calories, this is not the place. Most of the time, youāre either lying still or barely moving. This might suit someone looking for a very light and restorative practice, but it was far from the kind of yoga Iāve experienced in my years of practice.
Overall, the lack of professionalism from the front desk staff and the slow, uninspiring class make this a location I...
