ALDI — Local services in Louisville

Aldi is a good place to make your grocery dollars go farther. I hadn't been to an Aldi for years before this visit. I almost gave it a 4 instead of 5 because many items are closer in price to discount type stores (think Walmart or Target) than they were when I last shopped there. (Yes, there would have been a few sour grapes in that rating. I think the difference is now Aldi advertises & that costs $$$.) That's the only negative thing I have to say about it. But to be fair, at Aldi things are always at sale price, you just don't have to wait for the sale. Their selection is limited, but you'll find lots of the basics & some not so basics. Many are brands unique to them, but I haven't been disappointed yet when using their brands - they're comparable in quality to big name brands. Price on snack type food (chips, etc) is low enough that I'm not going to be buying basic items anywhere else. I was pleasantly surprised that they have greatly increased their organic & non GMO items. They've also increased their dry goods section. This decreased food choices & I was disappointed at first. I was a regular shopper looking for good deals on juice and meat, but I discovered that they really didn't have many deals at all. I also know that this location has racially profiled people and not very customer friendly to all of their patrons. I think that there are better deals at SaveALot and more of a variety. If you don't mind having someone secretly and discreetly follow minorities and falsely accuse you of being a criminal and banning you from their establishments then this is the place for you. I love Aldi's but this one could use a little sprucing up. Depending on what day you go will determine if there is good produce available or not. Be sure to bring your own bag because there will not be many empty boxes laying around. Some days there are really friendly staff members and other days...not so much. Still love the fact that they carry mostly organic products.
