As a young woman that grew up in this Church, I have to say that I love the political activism and community involvement. I have yet to attend a UU church that was as active as this one. From working with a Kenyan AIDs orphanage, to aiding refugee families, to extensive 'Green Sanctuary' involvement, to work with 'I love mountains', if you find spiritual fulfillment from service work, this is is the place for you.

In addition, Elwood is the best intellectual minister I have ever encountered. In the spirit of the church's namesake, Thomas Jefferson, Elwood uses literature and philosophy as a basis of his sermons. If you are engaged by intense, intellectual thought, this is the minister for you.

If you are interested in attending a UU church, but this does not excite you, there are three in the area. As a child, I used to give them the designations 'knowledge' (TJ), 'love' (Clifton), and 'traditional' (First Church. XD I don't know if they all still follow those trends, but feel free to attend them all to find the congregation that...

I only wish you had mentioned your dissatisfaction to a member of the staff or to me as President of the Board of Trustees while you were attending our church. We want visitors and members to come away with a positive experience and have meaningful involvement in church activities. Clearly, it is not our intent to harass or annoy anyone. It's true that our church has a lot of committees -- that's because we are a very active congregation. Our core values center on a sense of community, an ongoing search for truth and a passion for compassion and social justice. And we walk the talk. We're far from perfect but we try.
