I got into fender bender (with a parked car) in the parking lot while leaving as i didn’t realize they were blocking me in. it was so embarrassing and not my proudest moment by far. when i was walking into the restaurant to see who owned the car, two members of kitchen staff were standing at the back door laughing at me. when i asked if they could help me find the owner, they just laughed and shut the door which triggered a panic attack as i guess it was the straw that broke this camel’s back. there’s been so much more going on than simply a fender bender. my mom just got diagnosed with lung cancer while i have health issues myself and during my breakfast here, i’d been friend-dumped.
every male employee was standing in the back doorway laughing and talking about me when my boyfriend pulled into the parking lot. i was not oblivious to this either as even i could hear it from my car and see their smiling faces poking out. it left the feeling of a pit in my stomach and made me feel so low and small. i don’t go into public often and today they confirmed my biggest reason as to why.
this being said, the women here are amazing. they helped me find the owner of the car (an incredibly nice woman who was also an employee), gave me water and tissues, and checked in on me while i was hyperventilating. i can’t thank them enough for being girly pop and i hope the owner of the car that i hit knows that she blessed me immensely by sparing me from that extra stress when she had every right to not.
the food here is incredible. i’m upset that because of today, i have a bad taste for it in my mouth.
my reason for commenting an essay is simply to iterate to people: be kind. you never know what the people around you are going through. i hope the male staff here read this and...
Read moreWe tried Con Huevos for the first time yesterday and went back again this morning. The food is quite good, using very fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. The "Drunk Burrito" is absolutely fantastic! Great flavors! We also tried the "Gordo Burrito" and the French toast. Yesterday, my daughter had the churro waffles... they were great! I tried the Cuban coffee (sweet style) and loved it! Now, the ordering process is a little different.... You go in and order at the front counter before being seated. The food is then brought out to you. I observed some people coming in and sitting down first while waiting for others in their party to arrive. No one seemed to be bothered by this. I've read some reviews where others have mentioned "mobility issues" and how this is a problem. Why? Just go sit down and let someone in your party order for you. If you insist on ordering for yourself, then that is your choice. You can take the menu to your table (there are dozens of them) and tell them what you'd like. No problem. Oh, I've also seen people who said, "I had to pay extra for a refill of orange juice!" Uh...yeah. That's the way it is everywhere. I don't know of a single place anywhere that gives free refills of fresh-squeezed orange juice. Ever. It's worth the price. If you insist on free refills, get orange soda instead. The staff were very friendly and helpful on both of our visits. The atmosphere is bright with natural light and bright decor. The wall murals are beautiful! Everything is very clean. ...
Read moreGot the Superfecta platter to go (12/7/2024). Everything was pretty good, but I had a few complaints.
One of my pancakes tasted like straight onion, meaning either they need to clean the grill, their spatula, or clean whatever they are mixing the pancake batter with. I didn’t eat that pancake, but the other two were absolutely delicious.
My bacon had black spots in it. Not pepper flakes, but large black spots within the bacon. Not sure if it was mold, not sure if it was grill spots. I don’t know what it was. I prayed over it and still ate it (because I paid for it), but I hope I don’t get sick. If there is an explanation I would totally appreciate that!
The potatoes were really really really bland. I would’ve expected at least some salt and pepper? Maybe some bell peppers and onions? For a Mexican breakfast spot I feel like those were really lacking. I would’ve spent the dollar or so less and gotten the trifecta platter if I knew the potatoes were going to be so disappointing.
I wish I could've gotten some juice, but $7 for a cup is actually insane. Whoever decided and approved that price needs a reality check. In no world should a glass of orange juice (regardless of it is fresh squeezed) cost $7.
Overall, it was pretty good. I spent $20 including tip, and it was enough food that I ate it for brunch and dinner. The pancakes are big and fluffy, and some of the best pancakes I think here...
