I recently had the pleasure of visiting Dave's Backyard Farm, and I can confidently say that it was one of the best shopping experiences I've ever had. Dave's commitment to providing organic and locally grown produce is truly admirable, and it shines through in every aspect of his store.
As soon as I walked in, I was struck by the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The shelves were stocked with an impressive variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, all clearly labeled with their origin and growing methods. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the produce - everything looked and tasted amazing.
But what really sets Dave's Backyard Farm apart is Dave himself. He's incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and he clearly has a deep passion for his work. I had the pleasure of chatting with him for a while about his favorite chess strategies and some philosophical ideas, which really added to the overall experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend Dave's Backyard Farm to anyone looking for high-quality, organic produce and a wonderful shopping experience. It's clear that Dave takes great pride in his work, and it shows in every aspect of his store. I can't wait to...
Read moreFinally stopped by the new location! It’s spacious, with beautiful wood floors & a piano available for playing. There are some parking spots available on the side of the building. New products since my last visit At previous location. Came home with a mushroom galette & an apple one. The mushroom one is insanely good- buttery, salty & a little sweet in the crunchy crust. Yovina’s gorgeous fall honey waa a must- it tastes like salted caramel- on ice cream or plain yogurt or waffles, it’s 🔥. Croissants are gigantic, crunchy & buttery. Bought 2 for our breakfast tomorrow, but one to share would be plenty. My beer loving sweetheart will love the beer infused salami ,which will be delicious with the local cheeses I grabbed for charcuterie platter for the weekend. Not to mention the ground wild boar, which will become meatballs with king mushrooms in a red wine sauce. Yum, right? Don’t forget OhWowCow & Sewickley fresh local ice cream- great with the Apple galette! Dave is always looking for more local based products to bring in, so keep checking...
Read moreDave is one of the most interesting people I’ve ever met. He has a strong quiet nature about him, writes like a poet, plays that piano in his shop like Beethoven, has chess battles with his customers, and picks pawpaws for the shop when they’re in season. He has spent many years working the soil in various capacities around PA, with many interesting stories to tell if you ask.
He is a man I can trust who knows the difference between “fauxganic” and beyond organic. He has great gardening advice, and most importantly he is working together with some fantastic local farms to better nourish our community.
This is my weekly grocery run. I used to drive an hour to find quality farm fresh food for my family. Now I can just pop over to Dave’s any old day. He sells some of the nutrient dense and traditionally prepared foods that healed my family, and I will be forever grateful to him and to all the other farmers that have spent time cultivating and raising and making this farm-to-table food available.
As they say: “Pay your farmer, not...
