Saturday, February 10, 2024 La Strada: a pretty good Italian BYOB. comfortable cozy ambience, white tablecloths. Our server MaryBeth: bee’s knees wonderful, friendly, informative of the menu items and their specials, the quintessential server. The rest of the staff: the busboys, food runners, complemented the servers, were spot on and attentive. Our appetizers: the carciofo francese: artichokes served in a way I've never had before, they were great! The calamari fritti al Modena was amazing: crispy on the outside and perfectly tender on the inside, drizzled with a balsamic reduction and…Asian chili sauce?… that baffled us, being that we weren’t expecting that from Italian cuisine… nevertheless, we devoured it and I would order that calamari again! The entrées: the braised veal osso bucco with risotto and fresh vegetables was tasty and everything I hoped for and expected. The gnocchi al limone: the dumplings were soft, but chewy(my dining partner has very high expectations from a gnocchi); the sauce was good, the added shrimp perfect. The desserts: my tartufo selectIon, a deep rich chocolate ice cream with a lovely chocolate shell was delish. The homemade tiramisu was it tasty puzzlement(you know how you expect to see a dessert, and it's presented to you in a different way?) Good food, FANTASTIC serving staff, lovely vibes. We had a wonderful experience!

My wife and I visited La Strada this past Saturday for my nephew's Baptism lunch. The front of house was excellent and took care of any special requests. The food tasted great and the plating was nice. This is the reason for 2 stars, not 1. However, I sit here typing this while severely dehydrated, light headed, dizzy, with a headache, recovering from the worst 48-hours I've experienced in many years. I will spare you the absolutely disgusting details (Think of that scene in "Bridesmaids" after they ate at the Brazilian restaurant - only brutally worse and for a much longer duration), but a majority of the people in our party have been suffering from suspected Norovirus (Tested COVID-Negative). This hit us all on Sunday afternoon/night. We live in different parts of the country and this was the only meal we had together. I have been living in my bed for the past 48-hours, had to use a valuable paid day off yesterday, and was only able to work today because I can remote into my job. My sister contacted La Strada to inform them about this on Sunday and still has not heard back. Whether this was Norovirus due to someone not washing their hands properly or Gastroenteritis/Food Poisoning due to bad food, it is completely unacceptable! Just consider this before visiting La Strada as I absolutely do not wish my past 48-hours onto anyone.

I've ordered before, but New Year's Eve 2022 was my first time dining in-house. The experience exceeded my expectations. Our server Greg was vibrant and comical. His suggestions lived up to their reputation. As an appetizer, I ordered the crab cakes. The cream was delicious. The Ceasar salad with the in-house prepared dressing was good. For dinner, I ate the lobster ravioli. That dish is rich and creamy and just perfect. It's served in a creamy vodka sauce. I did add shrimp. My date had the Pollo Imperiale, a seasonal dish, but I can tell he enjoyed it as we didn't do much talking over our entrees. I forgot to take multiple photos. The food was so yummy! The wait staff works as a unified team. There was never a time period when I was left feeling like I needed something.

I was so impressed with La Strada Italian Restaurant…I must share my story.

My mother passed away and my family was looking for a nice memorable restaurant to host her “Celebration of Life” Luncheon. The mass was at the Sister's of the Holy Redeemer Chapel.

Unfortunately, our first venue somehow double-booked with only a week until our event. Ughh! Luckily, we were referred to La Strada Italian Restaurant, not too far away in Huntington Valley, Pa.

My father reached out to Larry, one of the owners, who was very flexible and understanding of our immediate needs. Larry invited us over right away to check out the venue and menu.

As we pulled in, we couldn’t help but immediately notice how beautiful La Strada was on the outside (Victorian Exterior), and the warm and charming Italian appeal on the inside. We immediately met Larry and fellow staff who were very welcoming and consoling, then settled on an amazing menu at a very reasonable price.

The day of our event, I noticed every single person that entered the door was warmly greeted like family. The restaurant appeared gorgeous with all the tables dressed up together. Extra tables were thoughtfully prepared, in case of unexpected or miscounted guests…which we had. Phew!

As wine was served (it's a BYOB), all dinner selections were collected by staff. For dinner, we chose five delicious courses: a Caesar salad, Antipasto, Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce, a selection of 4 entrees, and mini Italian pastries for dessert. As you can see, we really wanted to have a super special dinner in my mom’s name.

It then came time to eat and I must say… the food was outstanding! So many of our guests were raving about all the different courses of food and service - it really was incredible! Even though all I had was delicious…I thoroughly enjoyed the tilapia with their incredibly addictive sauce on top - I couldn’t get enough. And the Italian pastries—boom!!

On top of all that, the service from staff was second to none – literally. We have a very large, rambunctious family…and that day many children were moving all about; even some adults swapping seats to say their hellos. The staff’s level of patience, professionalism, attentiveness, friendliness and comfort was nothing short of spectacular and must be recognized!

The incredible food and service truly brought happiness to my father and the rest of our family that day, especially in a time when we were really hurting. I know in my heart that made my mom shine down and smile.

We couldn’t have chosen a more professional, memorable and delicious restaurant to host my mom’s dinner and to the La Strada Italian Restaurant Crew – Thank You for accepting us! God Bless... and we’ll be back!

Sincerely,

Rick...

First time at this hidden gem. I've driven by this place many of times but never knew it was there, fiancé found it and she hit the bullseye when we ate there Friday (8/13/21) night at 6:30 pm. Our server, forgot his name but he was an elderly male from Italy, was very knowledgeable, very polite and comedic and spoke of the specials like he created them himself.

For our appetizers I had the calamari and my fiancé had the shrimp with a lemon butter white wine sauce and topped with bread crumbs. My only gripe with my appetizer is that my calamari was topped with a balsamic glaze and a sweet & sour chili sauce and garnished with bits of lettuce, not a fan of that. I just think it would have been much better if the calamari was seasoned with Sicilian sea salt and no lettuce on the plate.

For the salad, my fiancé decided on the house salad and I opted for the Caesar salad. My only gripe about my salad was that it had too much Caesar salad dressing on it. Otherwise the romaine lettuce was chilled and crisp. Needless to say my fiancé favor my salad over hers.

For our main course my fiancé was having trouble deciding either ordering the snapper (special) or the Mediterranean Sea Bass. He gave her his honest opinion and she went with the snapper and she loved the dish. I choose the ravioli filled with goat cheese and topped with grilled shrimp. The Shrimp were heavily seasoned, which is my preference, and they were cooked perfectly. The shrimp were not overcooked which will feel like you are chewing on rubber, not a good felling. The ravioli was topped off with a cream sauce, mushrooms and sundried tomatoes. Our main entrée was phenomenal.

Our desert was excellent as well. I had the limoncello cake with a single shot of espresso. My fiancé had a desert that was half vanilla ice cream an the other half was chocolate ice cream and it was covered in chocolate and cut into four quarters and topped with whip cream.

If you are looking for a great Italian restaurant to dine for the evening, La Strada is the place to go. Remember, its BYOB and bring a nice bottle of whatever you love to drink with your dinner, but make sure it compliments the dinner you are...

My husband booked a reservation for our anniversary a MONTH in advance (we couldn’t make it online bc it was that early) unfortunately our wedding is on Valentine’s Day hence why he made the reservation on the phone a month ahead. He explained it was our anniversary and not just Valentine’s Day. He was told we would have a nice seat. Well our anniversary came on Friday and we were very excited to celebrate at this restaurant since we live about 5 mins across the street. Unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience, we walked in and told them our reservation, and they sat us in front of the door, I kindly asked if we could sit somewhere AWAY from the door, so one of the two older male hosts tried to sit us across that table by the door! We looked around and there were a lot of open tables. I told him away from the door and he said this was the best seat of the house (it was not as throughout our time there my husband watched countless couples come in and refuse that table) when we were greeted by our server no water was provided nor an ice bucket for our champagne. We thought maybe it’s bc they’re busy so we kindly asked for the waters and ice bucket. The meal was delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant until we kept getting interrupted by countless servers asking my husband about 4 times if he needed a to go box (we were still in the middle of dinner) that left us a little annoyed and feeling rushed out! We paid and my husband wanted to talk to the hosts again however the host had a language barrier bc he didn’t understand when my husband explained he wanted them to check and see if there was note made on our reservation about it being our anniversary, instead he kept telling my husband to make a reservation online and add a note so they may know, my husband kept explaining he couldn’t make it online since it was a month in advance which is why he called. The food was good but did not feel welcomed nor appreciated that we made this reservation for a special occasion. Telling all my friend and family not to dine in but...
