WARNING: Many of the 5-star reviews you see here are from their family & friends. They are trying SO hard to hide the bad experiences that their customers have had.
USUALLY I love supporting small family businesses: their dedication to customer service and desire to work with the customer's vision really sets them apart. However, I cannot even describe how TERRIBLE my experience with Schweon's was. Alan, the owner, is extremely rude and condescending. "I've been in this business for 43 years. I know what I'm doing." Congratulations, Alan! Good for you! But when you talk down to me for how I want MY own tuxedo to fit for MY wedding, you clearly shouldn't be in this business. If you don't want to meet the customer where his vision lies and treat me horribly, then don't sell to customers. Just make suits for yourself! At least that'll save others from dealing with the outright RUDE employees that work here. I also don't want to make this a race thing, but let's just say, I haven't seen him (or his other employees) treat his white customers this way.
Alan, if you're reading this, no one cares how long you've been doing this. No one. If you treat your customers like how you treated me, you need a reality check. Time to retire and reflect on your ego!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They deserve 0 stars for how they treated me.
UPDATE: I purchased a phenomenal tuxedo at a Jos. A. Bank and told them about the awful experience at Schweon's, and they were shocked that a family business could treat a customer like that. When I told them (Jos. A. Bank) how I wanted my tux to fit, they immediately said, "You got it boss," with ZERO hesitation (take notes, Alan!). They agreed that the only logical explanation for Schweon's behavior was some kind of racial or ethnic...
Read moreMy husband asked me to pick up the suit for a wedding he was in due to him not being able to go himself once he realized he wasnât going to be able to make their hours due to work and having other wedding related obligations and back to school night for his son. I arrived at the store the same time my husband was calling to let them know I was on the way. My children and I stood in the store as we watched an employee (donât know her name or id use that instead) turn to another employee sitting at the front desk and tell him and the entire store, my husbands name and why he couldnât come get his suit and said âmaybe you should cancel your plans thenâ as the whole store, employees included, began to now mock my husband. About 5 to 10 minutes goes by before someone even offers to help me, the store was busy when I arrived so I am not faulting on wait time here. The gentleman saw my 3 year old playing with the yellow slip with my husbands information and asked if I was there to pick up. i kindly explained who I was and he went to the back. Jackie came out asking if I was the wife, after speaking to my husband on the phone and explained everything. Jackie was very accommodating but I am not sure if that is because they were trying to make up for the situation or if that is something they actually do. I wasnât very happy with my experience at all. Moral of the story: it is extremely unprofessional to talk about your customers in-front of other customers. I probably wouldnât have had any idea if my husbandâs full name was never used. You never know who is in the room that knows that person and even if you do know no one is in the store that knows them, it is still completely...
Read moreI could not say enough good things about this formal clothing store. I've been meaning to write a review for a few months now and then life got in the way but I wanted to make certain they knew how much this meant to me in regards to the service I recieved from this store. I had my own baby shower on 8/20. Flew in from Denver on 8/17 and went to this store for the first time. I didn't decide right away because there were so many good options but was running out of time, so I left the store and went to King of Prussia the next day. Of course there I found nothing shirt wise but I did find some great shoes as shown in the photo. I left KOP around 3:30 that Friday and knew I could get a custom shirt at this store but I know they wre closing soon. I called them on the way over and I was going to get there about 15mins before they closed. They said come on in! So I came, they helped me match the shirt to the shoes and they bought out all the buttons they had so we could make sure all the proper colors were there. They then tailored the shirt and had it read for me the next day 8/19 at 10am. They simply did not have to do that. I was the one who procrastinated and put them in a tough spot and boy did they come through! This is a terrific family, they make you feel at home when you are in the store, they take their time with you and make sure you get exactly what you want. I won't be going anywhere else when I'm in PA for formal wear and will certainley recommend friends and family to go here. Your excellence did not...
