Absolutely amazing. We had a Tuesday off, were heading to Bowlero to spend some unused/remaining arcade credits, and I decided to treat the kids (9 and 12) and myself to lunch. I googled the area because we didn't want Panera and found Hampton House which was basically next door. The first picture made me a little nervous thinking it was more like a Waffle House type place but additional pictures revealed it looked safe and clean...and the waffles looked AMAZING. I was hooked and had to have one. Even driving past the place once, turning around in a parking lot and having to make more passes to get there was all worth it. (It's a bit tricky to get to...we ended up parking in an adjacent lot and walking a few minutes up to the restaurant)
I had the Belgian Waffle - I want another. I'm going back soon. It was that good.
9 yo had the chocolate chip pancakes. She is still conjecturing on "how" they were made because they simply couldn't have just had chocolate chips in them. They had to have "giant chunks of chocolate" because they were "so good and chocolatey".
12 yo had mushroom omelet. His biggest compliment to the chef - this is the best omelet I've ever had and the mushrooms are amazing. (I didn't eat one, but looking at them, they appeared to be fresh vs. from the can like I make omelets!) The toast that came with his meal looked like Texas Toast - that big thick white bread. I am tempted to get the omelet on our return - but I don't think I'll ever be able to stray from that waffle...I digress...
Anyways, I can't understand how there are any 1-star reviews at all. Maybe a 3 or a 4...if there was an off-day in the place (as there are at ALL places of business). But a 1? I don't believe it. I think those reviews must have been off days for the reviewer themselves.
So - Hampton House - thank you for a fabulous birthday lunch with my kids. My entire family will be returning one weekend for breakfast and I'm passing the word to extended family and friends in the area to hit you up.
P.S. - tell the waiter that worked on 12/13/22 that he is just so friendly and welcoming and it's so rare to encounter that attitude anymore. It was a pleasure to interact with him and observe him interact with...
Read moreI gave this place one star because when I went, it was one of the most disappointing meals and experiences I've ever had. I've been looking forward to going here for a while - small local business just starting up the past few years. Unfortunately, I was very let down. I got a waffle and home fries with someone and when we got the food, the waitress vanished to the back for a while. We enjoyed the waffles but the home fries had the nastiest taste of old grease I have ever tasted on potatoes. Considering the potatoes were a side that cost additional money, I thought they would be made fresh but although they look nice, the taste was too overwhelming to even eat the home fries. We finished our waffles and oj and sat waiting to see the waitress again. Maybe because it was later in the morning they didn't expect it to be busy? We saw her again and hoped she would come back and ask about the obviously untouched home fries and how the food was but she just placed down the check, picked up the potatoes asking, "all done?" and i say yes but before i can mention the home fries she leaves to go to the back and talks to a someone about coffee on the way. The waffle wasn't so outstanding that it makes up for the old grease covered potatoes and lack of service, hoping this isn't the norm for others. Maybe it was an isolated incident, there are a lot of people who seem to enjoy this place, but i didn't have a...
Read moreTried this place for the first time walked in and was very pleased with how the restaurant looked but sadly that was the ONLY pleasing fact about the place. We waited awhile. The Waitress was unfamiliar with the menu and seemed clueless to any questions. She then came out and asked me if I had ordered a bacon egg cheese on a bagel or a Kaiser roll I told her a bagel then our food was delivered and my sandwich came out with a Kaiser roll. She said it was her mistake that she had made the bagel and forgot to use it she took my sandwhich and quickly reappeared with it on a bagel I looked down and could CLEAR AS DAY she her fingerprint in my cheese because she had just used her hand to swap out the ingredients from the kasier to the bagel. HOW DISGUSTING!!! Everything she touches and she just used her hand??!! I didn't touch my food and told her I no longer wanted it so I got to go somewhere and leave without eating anything! Total waste of time and we will never be back (which is a shame because the kids enjoyed their specialty waffles and my mother said her chicken croquettes were authentic and very good although they were served with microwaved flavorless green beans - not a pinch of seasoning of any kind) Wish them luck...
