This is in regards to recent events of the women claiming the cashier Josie was being rude and told them to get out of her line. I’m only saying something because as many years as I’ve gone here for shopping Josie has always been the kindest and hard working to get her line down .Yea she did tell them to get out of her line , before that was said she asked for an id check for alcohol, the women proceeded arguing with ms Josie and then the daughter jumped in so ms Josie asked her coworker if they have to take i.d.s for alcohol, she said yes ( proving that she wasn’t being rude just doing her job. ) she proceeded to check the id and the daughter just kept on calling her rude and that she wasn’t being professional and had a bad attitude . That I’m aware there was no problem with the transaction it was just time she took to look at the id. Ms Josie proceeded to tell them she’s sorry for doing her job but if you’re still mad please don’t come through my line. I was one of the customers standing by the Easter egg candy stand when this was happening right next to her register. I only feel like it’s the right thing to do to speak up she is a great cashier, I genuinely feel like the women were being rude or having a bad day probably why they were buying alcohol. But that gives nobody a right to treat a human bad because they are doing their job. This will always be my food king and still think this is the best place to go to with the best prices. Atleast on my...
Read moreEdit/Update: Ive lowered my rating, my previous review, when this was a Lowe's Grocery, is below. This is now a Food King. I hate this store now. It used to have a good bulk foods section, a reasonable selection of organic foods, a variety of interesting produce (e.g., nopales, poblanos, brussel sprouts, tomatillos, etc.), and a decent beer selection. This store has converted to a Food King and is missing most of that now, beer selection is still ok though. My wife and I were considering moving to the neighborhood that that store is in because it is a pedestrian friendly location. Now it's a trashy bargain bin for low quality food and cheap skate undergrads.
Begin old review:
I like this grocery store, but they insist on putting six packs of beer in a plastic bag. They either say that it's "the law", which is not true, or they say "store policy". In the latter case it is a stupid store policy. Lubbock has a very real litter problem, it's the number one thing I do not like about Lubbock. Plastic bags are not the only litter problem, but they are an easy problem to fix. It'd be nice to see all the grocery stores in Lubbock collectively decide to not offer plastic bags, it'd be on small but very positive step to improving the look of this town.
*full disclosure, I do use reusable grocery bags, but on occasion I buy more groceries than I have bags for. In these cases I tell the checkout worker to not bag my beer, this is where...
Read moreI am a long-time shopper at Food King, and I typically do not have an issue unless I have to deal with Josie or Aiden. Josie is an incredibly rude cashier who clearly does not like her job. Today, she was arguing and yelling with my mother after she took several minutes to exam her ID, though my mom is very clearly of proper age, as am I. She was arguing with my mother so much that she forgot to ring up all of the items and had to cancel the transaction to finish it properly. Then, she started shouting questions at other cashiers across the stalls to try to make a point. When I told my mom it was okay, that she just has an attitude and my mom agreed, she started screaming "WELL THEN DON'T COME TO MY LINE!" even though she was the only cashier available at the time, more than likely for her constantly poor attitude. I told her that she was being argumentative and rude in addition to not doing her job properly, so she proceeded to try to argue with me. Aiden acts the exact same way and has even said, "quite frankly, I don't care if I mess up anyone else's day cause it's not mine. I'm here. 🤷" These two cashiers have mean spirits. They are the only cashiers that I've ever seen act this way and continue...
