Brookshire Brothers — Local services in Lufkin

I tend to prefer BBros to most grocery stores, but after this (and several previous trips to THIS particular store [Gaslight BBros]) I will have to completely stop going there. My first job, ever, was in a Brookshire Bros store, when I was 16 -- I just use to prefer them for sentimental reasons...not...any....more.

I've never in-my-lifetime seen so many snobby grocery store staff, mostly "managers." They walk straight down the middle of the aisles, purposely making customers yield to the staff. I watched as two elderly women in handicap carts were forced to drive INTO the products just so these managers could walk and talk and be so brazen. These guys don't halt at the ends of aisles to yield to man traffic...they just barge in without halting walk or talk. They talk so condescendingly to people that it is disgusting. The audacity of these people, is just gross.

My wife is particular to certain brands of chips and dates/batches of those chips -- she has a 4oz stomach and needs certain dietary staples. This guy came up to me, while I was calmly searching for her requested products, and he says to me "you know they are all the same, right?" in an attempt to get me to stop searching and to foolishly let me know that we know more about his products than he does. He inferred that I should stop searching and just take the first bags available, like cattle/sheep. No smiles, laughing, or anything friendly or righteously. I gently put back the bags I was searching and just walked off...there is no need to instruct these people about how reality works or how packaging dates or statistics work -- it wouldnt be productive since they apparently cant read, but like to belittle everyone else for it.

It just breaks my heart to see these types of people ruining our necessary trips to gather foods. Non-civil, non-helpful, non-friendly, and non-useful staff members acting as though they own the world and that the "little people who need to come to THEIR store" are plebeians and not worthy to be seen at their eye level.

This has all happened many times at THIS PARTICULAR STORE ... and after talking to others about it, it has apparently been known that they act this way and have lost many customers for it. What a shame...

Please dont indulge these people whom think they are better than you and I. Just go to another BBros and keep your...

Today (6-28-2016) my husband and I decided to get an order of chicken from here. We got the meal deal which was a simple 12 pc. with Hawaiian roles and a gallon of Milo's sweet tea. I was informed that I had to go to the back of the store to get the tea, no problem. When I got there, the Milo's tea was empty. (I feel they should check it and keep it stocked if it is part of a popular meal deal as I met a man getting the same thing we ordered and he did not get his tea either) When I told the woman behind the deli counter, she was very friendly and went and told the office for me. However, the manager was not very friendly. She seemed quiet annoyed that I wanted the tea that came with the deal THEY are advertising! I literally stood at the office counter for about 15 minutes for something so simple as tea! They didn't even know how much the tea cost! We get our food home and it tastes awful! The okra tasted like it literally had been sitting there since lunch and judging by how the manager was running the store, I'm assuming it was...My husband enjoys their chicken from time to time, but we will not be back for this old and stale chicken. I don't like to post bad reviews, but we were extremely disappointed in the food and I was disappointed with how I was treated when it was...

(5-12-19)My husband bought me flowers and a dozen chocolate covered strawberries for Mothers day, i ate 2 then i kept them in the refrigerator overnight got off work at 12 the next day i ate 2 more... then i realized they had mold all over them and under the chocolate.this did not happen over night! .. the expiration date is today 5-13-19.. i got very disappointed, but i did NOT show any attitude when going back to store, im eight months pregnant and defiantly do not want to eat mold! I brought them back to the store and they wanted to give me only half of my money back, but i just wanted strawberries..😐 the lady manager and the bakery lady kept telling me that i should have kept them cold.which i did!!. My husband did not buy them cold they were on a table in the middle of the store! mabyethey should have kept them cold!! I ate two of them the stayed in my refrigerator until i got them out to eat more the very next day, i did get them to make me fresh ones but i felt like i was being called a lier the entire time... i did not appreciate that at all, also i did not even get an apology for them selling me MOLD on my...
