My husband and I stopped in here on our way to stay in a B&B in Kenard. They seem to be doing some type of construction to make their building (hopefully) more accessible and user friendly. I am partially disabled on my left side due to a stroke and have a bulging disc in my lower spine which causes quite a lot of pain. I walk with a cane and if I go into an establishment like HEB, I have to use a wheelchair. First, we hurried up to the front walkway where we saw at least eight wheelchairs parked with the signs stating that they were ready for use by patrons, like me! However, they were all chained together and inaccessible. We went in the door thinking that surely there would be some just inside. Incorrect. My husband had to go to the other side of the store while I stood there miserably waiting. In addition to unhelpful staff... The patrons are just as rude... It's as if they've never met a disabled person and don't know how to interact with them in a kind manner. After shopping, I needed to use the facilities. I saw a sign for the restroom at the front, as usual with grocery stores but was upset to see that there was a sign on the door directing me to another bathroom by the bakery. Using my cane, I hobbled over to the bakery to find no restroom. When I asked a member of staff about the note on the door and where this mysterious bathroom near the bakery was. I was directed outside to a trailer that had stairs, no ramp. I was then told that there was no reason I couldn't use the bathroom inside and everyone seemed confused as to what a note was doing on the door that directed people to use the porta potty outside. I finally went into the forbidden bathroom to use the restroom only to have water dropping on me from the ceiling. It also fell to the tile floor all around me which created a fall hazard. Fellow members of society with limited range of motion.... Do not use this HEB. Keep driving. Going to the next town is worth it. HEB you should be ashamed...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve always loved and always shopped at H-E-B since I was a kid. The cashier are super friendly and nice and Iāve never had a bad experience until today. Me and my husband were at checkout when we realized he didnāt have his debit card. The cashier was super nice and said she can hold the groceries till he gets back but that they were fixing to close. Normally we would have put the groceries back and come a different day but my daughter was completely out of baby formula. He rushed home and got the card when it turned 11 the manager asked where he was and I said at the light where lows is. He said to cancel the order the cashier explained to him that theyād have to stay anyways to put the food back and that heād be here soon. The manager then looked at our groceries and said āno yall can put that crap back fastā. So I called my mom to see if she if she could cashapp me thankfully she sent me enough for the formula. But my husband was already at the door trying to get in at 11:05 when the manager still made her cancel the order and just ring me up at a different register for just formula. While I understand itās our own fault for forgetting the card every other store is closed at or before 11 and idk if this grown man knows this but babies cannot eat anything other than formula. Like is it to much to ask for a little compassion. It was 5 minutes and the last person had just left the store when he got there. You couldnāt just take the card from him and let me pay! 5 minutes . My husband was already there and he still made her cancel the order. 1 can of baby formula and water. Just the worst experience ever with the most heartless manager ever. I am thankful for how understanding and patient the cashier...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Tuesday 10/24/23 So this is Chris the actual manager. He works at heb in lufkin Texas. He threatened me to move my car or else he wouldn't ring up my families groceries because when I went to park in the handicap there were no more spots open, however by law I'm allowed to park in the section where you can have groceries brought out to your vehicle. But he said no he doesn't care if that's legal because this is a private business and he can refuse service at his own will. Which is true. Walmart is also a private business but doesn't mind if you park there if in the same scenario. But Chris does. Thanks Chris. Ill go to Walmart from now on. Instead of retaliation, I set the example for my kids and saved my wife the humiliation. Here Everything is Better? Not on Chris's shift. I don't think he's anti handicap but possibly anti Christian since it's obvious I have my church license plate frame on my handicap plates. I could understand if there weren't any other parking spots for the bring it out to your car deliveries but there were lots and lots of open spots for that service. But the handicap spots were all full. Not sure why Chris was being like this. Power trip? Doesn't like disabled? My Christian church license plate frame? Because I'm Hispanic? I just can't figure it out. Maybe he's just having a bad day and took it out on me. Please pray for Mr Chris the manager and demote and retrain him. I don't want him fired. We all deserve...
