When I paid with my debit card for the item I was buying—a total of $12.99—the woman asked for identification, so I gave her my driver's license. I inform her of my new last name, and she gives me my receipt. after which asks me to sign and provide my phone number? First, coming from a person who was a supervisor in the retail industry, this person had me feeling very puzzled my phone number on the receipt ? In most situations involving anything over $50 or you think the person is suspicious , you can ask for ID. What disarrayed me was that they inquire (of) me to add my number to the receipt. I complied because I did not want to cause scene, but I stepped aside due to a couple was coming to the same cashier to check out. I stayed to see if they would do the same to the couple as they did to me. The transaction total was well over $100, they did not ask for an ID or a phone number .
