Waffle House — Restaurant in Lumberton

We love the food at Waffle House! We eat here often and usually have friendly, fast, courteous service. My complaints are regarding what I'm assuming are managers (the ones in the blue shirts) and one other employee. These incidents have happened the last 3 times we have been. The first issue was with a waiter. We placed our order with me ordering the exact thing I always order. When he brought it out it was completely wrong so I assumed he had accidentally brought me someone elses order. I said, "Oh, that's not my order." and he insisted more than once that it was. I told him it was not what I ordered and he began almost yelling at me telling me it was. He walked off with the plate saying things about me loud enough I could hear it. Mind you, I was not rude at all! The gentleman cooking came to me, said he heard everything that happened and apologized. He then told the waiter to go outside and take a break. I asked for a different person to wait on us and a manager came over and began making excuses for the young man saying he was tired and never acts this way and that he was probably just having a bad day. No excuse for treating a customer this badly.

The last two incidents occurred on two separate visits. Complaints against the ladies in blue shirts. The first was a girl with red hair, the second a blond (the same one who defended the waiters actions above). Both were constantly berating the ladies in gray shirts. Taking issue with literally everything they did and calling them out and correcting in rude ways loudly in front of customers. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

CURRENT REVIEW Has gone down hill since my previous review. The main issue was poorly prepared proteins. They also don't have a military discount at this location. But hopefully they can turn it back around. The server was new so not going to judge the service harshly. We tipped her well to encourage her to keep learning.

The main issues were with the food, specifically the proteins. Both the ham and bacon were severely overcooked and dripping dirty grease all over. Took quite a few napkins to clean it all up. The ham was dry and leathery and the bacon was hard and burnt. My sunny side up eggs looked like pancakes that have the bubbles all over them right before turning them. The burst bubbles and low points were filled with oil. It looked like they were all prepared by someone who really didn't care.

The waffles were all good and Lana was a real sweetheart when we needed something because our server was on the other side of the restaurant at the time. Our server wasn't doing anything wrong; I just didn't feel like yelling across the restaurant.

As seen in my previous review below, this used to be an awesome Waffle House and hope to see them get things together again. Would also appreciate them offering a military discount like many other Waffle Houses do. Our service men and women deserve it.

I am no stranger to visiting Waffle House - I am always down for an All-Star Special and a Pibb. Most recently, on Jan 25, 2024 around 930pm-ish my friend and I stopped in at this location after watching a powerlifting meet at the high school and we were blown away. There were only a couple of people in there at the time, but we sat right down and two servers came to greet us and start on our orders (we already knew what we wanted). The place was super clean, very well-kept and it wasn't loud in there. The food came out fast and it was SO good. My friend and I both like our bacon super crispy and KUDOS to whoever was on the grill this night because that was the most perfectly crispy, melt in your mouth bacon we have ever had. Our server, Gail was super nice and attentive. Toward the end of our meal, a small group of younger kids came in and start playing and singing old sad country music on the TouchTunes Jukebox in there and it was just a whole vibe lol - we don't find ourselves in Lumberton often but we both agreed we'd drive back just to visit this Waffle House again. As a matter of fact... this is NOT a Waffle House... This is a...
