My fiancĂ© and I came here last weekend and saw a few interesting pieces. I took pictures of a few items for inspiration and looked them up through image search, and found that many of them are just newly-made items from wayfair, walmart, ebay, etc with a high mark-up on the price. I understand that not everything in an âantique storeâ is necessarily âantiqueâ, but what I really had a problem with was the marked-up prices and misleading labels. For example, there was an item with a label that said â1920sâ priced for $230â that was actually newly made and readily available online for $160 (thatâs about a 40% markup on a mass-produced item made in the 2020s, not the 1920s as the label suggested). This just seems like blatant false-advertisement and price-gouging to me.
On top of that, there is some racist iconography throughout the store (not unusual for southern antiques and not necessarily offensive by itself)⊠but it really struck me that the owner decided to place a DVD of Song of the South (a movie so racist that even Disney refuses to carry it anymore) right in the center of the checkout desk like a trophy item, and placed a display dedicated to the confederacy right when you walk in the front door. Like, who even has a DVD player anymore? The likelihood of even selling that DVD is pretty low to be displaying it front-and-center like a prized itemâ same with the confederacy regalia. Iâm from the South, so Iâm used to seeing this stuffâ but I think it really says something about the ownership of an establishment when they choose to put these items front-and-center above all other items in the store. Itâs just not very welcoming.
Other than that, there were some interesting pieces that (I hope) were actually antiques, even if overpricedâ and there were a lot of holiday nick-knacks which is probably good for people looking for that. Overall, I would suggest just doing some research on what exactly youâre buying before you buy it, because it seems like the ownership either doesnât do that research or intentionally misleads...

J&K Fleas AnâTiques is hands down one of the best antique malls Iâve ever visited! Located right in charming downtown Madison, Georgia, this place is massiveâover 12,000 square feet of vintage goodness. Every corner is filled with hidden gems, from antique furniture and estate jewelry to old-school tools, art, books, and unique collectibles.

Read moreJ&K Fleas An'Tiques held an amazing estate sale for us this weekend. Keith and Eduardo staged everything beautifully. They made sure to show all of our items in their best light, moving furniture to different rooms, creating cohesive collections, and rooting out things that had been boxed up for decades. They did research to make sure items were priced fairly and accurately. Keith Rex identified an old crock in the attic as an "important" piece, getting us loads more money ($1895) than we thought it was worth. He is very knowledgeable about all types of furniture and goods. Plus he has contacts all over to tap for info or alert about items they may possibly be interested in. They made us a lot of money. A lot! Keith, Eduardo, and their team were professional, friendly, and very patient with us (even when we added or subtracted items during the staging). I never realized how much work went into an estate sale. J&K worked tirelessly for us. We highly recommend J&K Fleas An'Tiques for your estate sale. They are honest, ethical, and highly-skilled. Plus, they are loads of...
