Update 12-2-24 HD doesn't like to be called out they keep deleting my review. Update 11-14-24 I filled out the form on the link so they could email me so I could say the same thing again. For them to again tell me too bad we don’t take opened flooring, so I am out $1,657.60.
Be very carful buying flooring from the HD as they do not stand behind the products they sell. While Home Depot is the store I normally purchase everything for and have spent 20,000-30,000 in the last few years remodeling my house. I am out so much money on this flooring My flooring experience was horrible. To start I placed an order for LVP flooring to be picked up at W-Madison location. I would have a delivery date then switch to the next week and the next week. (When you look at the website it would show it could be delivered the following week) I called the first time and was told it was delays from distributor. Waited another week and called again, letting him know that this morning it said it would be delivered tomorrow and now it has no delivery date. He got the shipping company on the phone who then proceeded to say they just got the order that morning how did I expect to get it next day. When I stated that I ordered it weeks ago they said Well HD just sent us the order today so it will be another week or so prior to being processed and shipped from down south. The HD guy could not get me off the phone fast enough. I canceled the order and drove to the WI Dells location to pick up what they had in stock and placed an order for the rest. That order was ready for pick up the following week so that proved that HD did not send in my order to start with as the shipping company stated on the phone. The flooring I ordered was Lifeproof Oakwood Avenue 22 MIL x 7.4 in. W x 47.8 in. L Waterproof Click Lock Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring. Sadly, this flooring is extremely hard to install. I called to get estimates for the flooring to be installed and HD had the best price however I noticed they wanted a huge number of transition strips, and my upstairs only needed it by one doorway. I spoke with 3-4 different people between the store and on the phone and was told the installers had to add transition strips at each doorway and closet. I said never mind and just hired them to do the basement. I paid someone else to install it upstairs. Skip them showing up for installation. I was told they would not come prior to 8am they arrived a bit after 7am. The guy looked around and I removed the carpet from one room. He removed most of that and then sat in his truck for hours until the 2nd guy arrived around 10am. They asked if I had some tools, I said no so they had to run to the store to buy some. Then proceeded to tell me 2 of the 4 rooms were slightly off what HD permitted so they could not install, the one room had a big variance, so they only did the entry. Reach out to HD to get a refund as they didn’t install the floors, and they stated they are not able to refund the money. I have to come down with my DL to get a check. Are you kidding me?- Took an hour to get them to set up for the check to be mailed. To top it off I hired a company to install the flooring upstairs in my house after I was not able to get it to go together. The company let me know that a HUGE amount of the boards in my boxes were not square, so they were not able to use them, and a bunch were broken. In total I purchased 121 boxes and so far about 27 were trash. With imperfections they also struggled to get the boards together. I hired Home Depot to install my entryway and basement thinking it is their flooring they will have a better method for the product. They ended up only installing my entryway that 24SQFt with that small amount they also found 6 boards (1 box) that were not square and not able to be used. They also struggled to install the floor saying it was manufactured horribly. HD won't let you return opened flooring, so I sit with 28 boxes so far of trashed flooring costing me a total...
Read moreLong story! We found some kitchen appliances (range, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave) online at Home Depot. Went to this Madison store to see what was in stock. They didn't have any of them i stock. No big deal. We sat down with a sales person to order them. That took quite a long time. She didn't seem to understand how to use the computer system. Then the real problem began when we asked to have them delivered (not installed, they charge extra for that). Turns out our home is 5 miles outside their delivery area. She had to get 2 store managers to figure out what to do. They finally decided (after quite a while) that they would have to have them delivered to the store, then they would deliver them to our house (very nice and accommodating for the extra 5 miles!). Then all 3 of them couldn't figure out how to enter THAT into the computer. They said they would probably be delivered the following Friday. Finally it was done and we left after a couple of hours. I called on Friday and no one could figure out if the appliances had arrived. Back and forth. A lot. Then I called on Saturday. Same story. Total confusion. I asked the person to just physically walkback and look to see if the items were there. THey did then said Yes they had arrived shortly before BUT THE RANGE WAS GONE. A SALESPERSON HAD SOLD IT ALREADY! They had to reorder the range. Another one arrived at the store a few days later but it was damaged so they had to order ANOTHER one! FINALLY Jon, the store manager himself and another employee personally delivered the appliances (about a 45 minute drive from the store). They were very apologetic and helpful (for example taking the doors off of the fridge to get it through the door etc.). It's tough to figure out how many starts to give them.
NEGATIVE POINTS: It took WAY too long to get our appliances We had to spend way too much time in the store and on the phone The employees were poorly trained on their computer system Our range was sold out from under us. Many problems with damaged merchandise. Several of the floor models were damaged and the first range was damaged at the store.
POSITIVE POINTS: The store manger personally delivered the appliances They delivered 5 miles outside of their area. All of the employees were pleasant, courteous and accommodating.
Hopefully this review will help Jon and the store get more resources to make...
Read moreWent in to purchase wood stain for a shelf that was made for me. I have never stained anything and did not know what I was doing. That being said, the first thing I did was go right to the paint counter and asked how to pick it out and that I was looking to stain something grey. I was told there is only one option for grey and that I’d find it down “that” aisle (aisle was pointed to). Okay. Started looking down the aisle and was super confused. My fiancé went back to ask for more help because we couldn’t find grey and he was told to go to the indoor section. So we walked down a little further and found the indoor stain... still very confused about what we’re looking for. Finally someone comes over from the paint counter and shows us the grey stain we were looking for and then pointed out all of the top coats. So we put the “only grey stain” option in our cart and started to look at top coats. Then another employee comes over and tells us in detail how the stain selections work, showed us the pamphlet of all of the available colors and told us exactly what to do when we picked one out. So we picked a color, grabbed a polyurethane too coat and went to the counter. So easy! Wish someone would have done that from the start, when I asked. I would say it went better from there but the original two people we spoke with seen that we picked out a water based stain and a polyurethane top coat and said “that top coat is going to be a lot of cleanup” to which I said okay... because I have no idea what that means. Right before leaving (5 mins later) the other employee chimed in to explain that because the stain we picked was water based we’d have to wait a couple of days for it to dry before applying the top coat which was oil based. (Makes perfect sense). He then told us where to grab the water based top coat.... So, in the end we got what we needed but it would have been easier if we had received the help we needed right away. Also... if someone asks for a specific product it wouldn’t hurt to just walk down the aisle to show them where the product is. The whole experience was frustrating and made me feel really dumb for even trying. I don’t work at the paint department for Home Depot- I’m not an expert, that’s why I...
