Ocean State Job Lot — Local services in Manchester

Probably the worst customer service you could imagine. Bought an air mattress, it was the only one they had at that price but the box was damaged and open. Considering we needed one we bought it and asked if something was wrong if we could still return it. Come to get home and the cap was missing and there were holes in it some where because it wouldn't stay inflitated. We got there to return it and they gave us such a hard time. They gave my mother a hard time, the employee lied about selling us the mattress and I stepped in and said I was there, that she did sell it and the manager told me "yeah yeah I'm doing it so enough, you can stop" and kept antiganizing the situation. Mind you know I'm only 16, and this oldder woman would not stop being rude to me and questioning the employee who sold it to us while she was cashing out other customers. She was so rude and honestly, I'm thinking about calling there district manager. NEVER am I going there EVER again. I don't recommend going there. Sure, prices are good, but there's other ocean states around, with better...

There were 2 registers open. As I went to go to one (#8), a 3rd employee put the closed chain across one of the register lanes, closing down to a single register (#3). There were about 8 of us in line. I called out to the employee that closed the other aisle, suggested she tell the clerk who was leaving to turn of his register light, so people wouldn't keep going over to find it closed. She called out to the clerk that he should turn off his light and she was done for the day, and left. Apparently, it was supposed to be some sort of prank she played on him. He called out that register 8 was open. I replied the gal that had just left closed his aisle. He walked out, removed the chain, then led some of us over. He asked what had happened, I filled him in. He just shook his head. Needless to say, I wasn't amused by the prank one employee played...

I frequent this store and always find great prices on many of the basic items I need like toiletries, casual clothes, yard and garden supplies. With the savings, I'm able to buy little extras like fancy foods, premium dog treats, home goods and giftware. The oriental rugs they carry are a great value. They are as durable as they are beautiful! I also love the fresh sweetbread they carry with and without raisins. I've had great customer service whenever I've visited because I treat people who are helping me with the respect any working person deserves. Part of the adventure of shopping at Ocean State is that since the merchandise is mostly closeouts, one never knows what bargains are to be found.
