Was shopping there today. Came across a very used pre-lite Christmas tree marked $40 as-is. A volunteer assisted with plugging it in and trying to get it to work. After 20 mins, he advised we talk to a staff member about getting it reduced. When we approached the staff member she made it a point to tell us the tree was “ high end” box was marked $179 and year 2011. The tree was missing pine cones, many branches had snow missing and areas it was sparse. We explained it’s not working and asked for it to be reduced since we’d need to buy all new lights and freshen it up.
We were told “ as -is… means it’s not working and it’s priced accordingly “. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told she was an employee and she went on to tell us donations don’t get reduced. She again was asked about a manager and didn’t get one, nor advise how to find one to speak too.
We also suggested they put broken / does not light up on the box and she reminded us again she’s an employee who knew it was broken and “as-is “is code for broken / dose not work. To most shoppers they wouldn’t have known it was broken unless they dragged the 30lb box to the center of the store, opened the tapped box and took it out branch by branch and light it up like we did.
Needless to say due to the poor service and as-is selling broken items at top dollar, we left without purchasing the $375 in other furniture items we had planned on buying. We will no longer shop where we’re treated poorly as well as buy from a company that doesn’t mind knowingly selling...
Read moreThrift store is nice but staff is racist as hell. My mom is an old lady with language barrier. She goes to the store every other day since it is walking distance from our home and she loves buying stuff for kitchen and other decorations. Plus the money goes for donations which makes her happy. Yesterday she purchased a set of China dish and told them my son will come pick them up tomorrow since they are heavy. When I went today asked if I can cancel the order because I have not yet picked it up. A White, aged lady working there said it right in my face that your mom should not come here if she cant speak English. It was already paid for so i had no choice to take it with me but I was in shock that how could someone in customer dealing business say that. I requested manager when he came I told him the entire conversation and he said in my face that I am a liar. I told him to check the camera recordings this is not a nice way to behave with the customer to which he said you can leave my store. I asked for his and Karen’s name and he said we don’t give names and left mid conversation. I will be sending an email to the management in the morning but to anyone who have old parents or people who can’t speak English. This is not a place for you. Donate your money somewhere else with alot of self respect. P.S: There is an African American lady with hijab that works there she is always very nice to my mom, I wish they hire more respectful people like her but the manager and old...
Read moreI recently purchased two items in the boutique section. As the salesperson was getting them out of the case, I noted the items had already been priced for sale at a date earlier than senior day (which gives seniors a small benefit). I asked why they had not been put out for sale so seniors could also have the benefit, she stated they wait on purpose so they can get top dollar. Its discrimation against seniors!! After I left, I further found that the items I bought were super inflated for what they were and they had values for the items at 3 to 4 times what they are actually priced at new. If this was done in any regular store, it is normally considered fraud. In later speaking with a supervisor about the incident, the underlying issues and truths were completely turned around to justify all they did. This is supposed to be a Catholic institution. They spout off having the values of being good in the community. Those values they claim to hold and are touted to be their mission is really not sincere. I understand they are selling things to aid others, but to promote falsehoods and gouge others to justify it when all their goods are donated is not reflecting true Catholic values within the community. Furthermore they persist in justifying their fraudulent practice of super inflating values and prices by placing a sign stating they dont guarantee values of the items. That still does not justify lying to the public to achieve...
