I went there for dinner yesterday on Christmas day and it was quiet a memorable experience. Please note that my review towards this restaurant is quiet factual and I hope the restaurant takes my feedback seriously in order to improve.
The decor is cheap and boring and there is no music playing. The tables tops are thin and unless you sit in the booth the chairs are super cheap plastic, even my high school cafeteria chairs were better quality.
We were greeted and seated instantly. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
Upon sitting down we were ready for our order within 5-7 minutes, we ordered the Gobi appetizer, the masala dosa and chicken chettinadu. (I realized that the servers don't write the orders, they memorize them...so just that alone gave me a red flag that this restaurant has no process and the owners have no experience running a restaurant).
The chilli gobi was fresh, tasty and unique. We really enjoyed the quality and taste.
Next came the chicken. Without exaggerating it's probably the worst Indian chicken dish I have ever had. It had bone in chicken (which I'm a fan of) but there was only 3 small chunks and one big piece of chicken. All brown meat. And the dish had little splinters of bones. I have attached a picture to prove it. If I had a child with me he or she would have choked on it. When you charge $13-17 for an entree please have the class and respect for your costumer and use decent quality meat that's edible. Stop looking for cheap ways to make more money. This dish was also cooked more than a day ago. I'm a foodie. I go to plenty of restaurants. I can tell you instantly when the food is old, especially with Indian spices.
The chicken was accompanied by stale rice. I complained about this to the waitress, she told me it was made that morning, maybe it was but most likely it wasn't. It was flavorless and unedible. The dish itself didn't have a strong flavor. It felt as if the chicken was cooked separate and then just thrown in this broth.
We also ordered garlic naan. It was fresh, the Naan was good quality although there was ZERO garlic taste.
To top it off we never received our masala dosa ( please use common sense and write your orders. Your employees have no restaurant experience and maybe you think it saves money to memorize the orders but it doesn't because you lost me as your customer today).
When I asked for my check 45 minutes after I ordered my food,, the waitress asked me if I want to cancel the dosa....I looked at her and very nicely said it doesn't take 45 minutes to order a dosa considering the table next to me had also ordered one and they arrived 15 min after we did and had already eaten theirs.
All in all I believe that if you have a bad experience somewhere you should go there again to assure yourself that you're not delusional. I will give this restaurant another chance within the next couple of months.
All in all I think this restaurant really needs to update it's decor and use quality furniture and quality foos. Their food quality and service is an embarrassment to Indian cuisine.
Lastly....it's important to walk around with a jug to make sure people's waters are constantly filled. This is a practice in almost every restaurant in America. You should also have salt and pepper at every table. Your rice and chicken dish was lacking salt, if you had it at my table like most restaurants do, I might have enjoyed it better.
Lastly I would like to point out that my waitress was very welcoming, polite and nice. She even gave me a 10% discount because she forgot to place my order of the masala dosa. I feel she was inexperienced although that's her management and ownerships responsibility to properly train her. Shame on...
Read moreI had a delicious meal of vegetable korma for lunch. Also shared some delicious garlic naan with my friend, although it was a bit oily. I appreciated that they are still using some COVID precautions--staff are masked and they served us sealed bottled water (and we didn't get charged for them). I wished they'd had a lunch menu because portions and prices were dinner size. But I took my leftovers home and it was delicious upon reheating it, so the price was worth it. So why not 5 stars? My friend ordered the vegetable briyani. She was asked how spicy she wanted it, and she asked "How medium is your medium?" Our server replied it was a true medium, and sensing her hesitation, he asked if she wanted it "medium-mild", to which she said yes. He also asked if that was the same for me, and I nodded (although part of the reason I picked the korma is that it is usually a mild dish). This friend and I often go to eat Thai, which I find typically spicier than Indian, and I'd never seen her react so strongly than she did to how spicy her dish was. It was clear from her reaction that she did not get a medium-mild. Even pouring the yogurt sauce that was served with it gave her little relief. And her dish was a HUGE portion. Had we known some of the dishes were that big, we could have easily split something like that (although I probably wouldn't have been able to eat much of something that spicy). She said the flavor was good, but with the large portion and being unable to eat too much because of the spice level, she was afraid most of her dish was going to go to waste. I was still happy with my dish, and they have an extensive menu, so I plan to go back sometime. I think it would be great to go there for dinner with a few people, order less dishes than we have people, and get a chance to try multiple things eating family style. I definitely think this place is worth a try--just be careful how you order if you don't like...
Read moreI would give 5 stars for taste of the cake that we ordered, but this 1 star is for their service. This weekend we have ordered a 5 lbs cake for a gender reveal party with customized cake design, we normally would expect the cake to be packed in an appropriate box that fits the 5lbs cake, especially when its for a gender reveal party, we would not want the cake to be exposed until its time, look at the pics i have attached, thats how they packed the cake, worst part is they covered the open area using the foil paper only after I insisted him, the person whoever handed me the cake dint care at all, he just placed the cake on the table after taking the money and went in to take care of another order, I thought he went in to bring a proper box to pack, to my surprise he came out with some other order and started taking care of other customers, when i asked him if this is how he wants me to take the cake, he said "we dont have any other box that fits the cake" (with his own attitude), I asked him how do you expect me to take a open cake in a car and place it on a table outdoor, he dint bothered to answer that, then i insisted him to cover the open space with something for which he used the foil paper. Seriously? I dont have any complaints about the cake or the taste, whoever works backstage preparing all those dishes, your efforts are in vain due to the ones who are facing the customers, time to learn some basic customer handling skills, if not it wont be too late before someone else take lead in this...
