This studio is wonderful, and Aliona is a very skilled artist with a personality that will make you feel very comfortable. If you like her style for something for yourself, I 100% recommend you schedule with her. 5 stars across the board.
I waited so long since my last 2 tiny, disappointing tattoos almost 20 years ago, and I'd kind of stopped caring about getting any of the ones I'd had in mind for years. Tattoos hurt, they're expensive, they're permanent, and I simply didn't come across anyone locally who really made me want them to tattoo me. But Aliona's portfolio was so well-done, the work she did had such excellent detail and mood to it, and she was in my region! (I also personally felt more comfortable, as a woman, being tattooed by a woman.)
I (impulsively) contacted her for a piece I'd had in mind, just a concept for her to go with, thinking small, and she immediately told me I'd need to go bigger...because you can't have her level of detail without size! And I'm so glad I said "Let's do it!" She created a beautiful piece of art for me. (Trust the process! I did and I was very pleased.)
I was very nervous for my first big piece, and had to take 2 back to back breaks at the beginning because I got woozy, shakey, and broke out in a cold sweat. It wasn't so much pain, just nerves. She was so kind and reassuring about it, and she just chilled until it passed and I was ready again. After I settled in, she took more spread-out breaks between sections at just the right times. She was attentive to me, my pain responses, and how my skin responded, as well. I don't have a lot of experience for comparison, but I also felt like she worked quickly and with a light hand.
The whole shop was great. Clean, very sanitary procedures. Very comfortable atmosphere. Easy conversation. Laughs. Beautiful art. Talented artists. Bactine (lol). Excellent aftercare instruction. Exactly what you want out of the whole experience. I'm very happy with my decision. Fully worth the time, money and ouchies.
There are 2 other artists there, and I liked Shannon's work, as well, for something else in the future. I'll definitely...
Read moreIn response to Barbara’s horrible review she posted. I am her ex husband. Here’s the true story of what happened. I was in for a tattoo, the tattoo took about 2 and a half hours. The artist and I had plenty of time to make conversation. During our conversation we were talking about my children and how my youngest son who is 7 has been painting for the last couple years and I showed her some of his work. I explained that since he has EDS and is not supposed to play sports, my ex wife found something that he can excel at and be proud of. The artist was not familiar with the disease or how they diagnose it. I told her that they do a whole bunch of tests and that one of the tell tale signs is that they have really stretchy skin. I told her that It is hereditary and that her other kids and her also have it. I had referred my ex to this shop because she had a tattoo done recently and had to have it worked over 2 times because the ink didn’t take well and even after a completely different artist tried to fix it, it still looked horrible. She contacted this shop to try to have it fixed once again. When I had told my artist about the disease and how the skin is affected she said she needed to talk to her boss about it because she was uncomfortable with giving the tattoo because of my ex wife’s condition. They must have decided that it was too risky for an apprentice at a tattoo shop to fix her tattoo. This artist and the shop are very talented and very respectful and I agree and think they had a very valid concern and I agree with the decision they made. So don’t let her review keep you from coming to this awesome tattoo shop. Read all of the other reviews and you will see the truth about this place....
Read moreAliona is a great artist IF you choose one of her original artworks. I asked for a custom piece and she wouldn’t show me what she was working on until the day of. It looked fine at first but ended up not quite being what I wanted but I went with it and asked later just for some white highlights and added color because I wanted something more airy and it ended up being a dark blob, the raven she did didn’t have much detail and the wing she added later was just colored black with no detail at all. I was very nice about it and told her I really liked the artwork in general, thanked her for her time, and just asked for some additions to make it flow a little better. She took a month at a time to get back to every email and 4 mos after the original request, she said I was entitled to 1 touch up but she wouldn’t feel comfortable “working in any new pieces” with me. Honestly she was very unpleasant as a person, presented as very narcissistic, and can’t seem to take even the slightest criticism. I tried really hard to be nice despite being honestly pretty unhappy with the piece and she was not at all accommodating, insinuated I should like it because it was “one of her most liked on IG,” ghosted me for months at a time, and then told me she didn’t want to continue working with me. I tried so hard to be polite but honest about how I was feeling and I’m so saddened by the whole ordeal and how she made me feel. So unless you are going in for one of her flash or a warrior princess style portrait, her attitude isn’t worth feeling uncomfortable and unwanted for and 8...
