It's Terlingua. There's hipsters, 'natives', tourists, rich folk and commoners amok. Somebody's probably playing guitar serenading the whole motley ensemble. There's probably a dog or two wandering around. The aroma from the outhouse may be adding to the eclectic atmosphere helping you feel more exclusive. The parking lot is equal parts mall-crawlers, real 4X4s, minivans and hybrids. The store itself has a wide variety of goods. From snacks & drinks, typical touristy tchotchkes, clothing, hats, blankets, toys. Many people use the Trading Company as a 'hang out.' There's a big, wide porch with some benches and it's a handy place to wait and visit or enjoy a tasty beverage while waiting for the Starlight Theater to open or a table to become available.

The Terlingua Trading Company in Ghost Town carries a wide selection of souvenirs. It’s a busy place and serves as the main (and only) souvenir shop in the area. While the items are interesting and locally themed, the prices are quite high, which might make some hesitate before buying. The parking situation is a challenge. It’s a dirt road shared with the Starlight Restaurant, and with no clear organization, people park wherever they can, making it a bit chaotic. If you’re planning to visit, patience is a must. That said, it’s still worth checking out for the experience and the chance to take home a piece of Terlingua’s quirky Ghost Town vibe. Just be prepared for the crowds and parking frustrations!

We always stop by the ghost town when we're down💖 The "Porch" is the biggest draw for us; love sitting and watching people, kids playing with hula hoops, random dogs, and a variety of musicians, all while having a cold beer and soaking in the breathtaking views. The store has grown in both merchandise and size over the years, but still manages to retain some of its original ambiance; both weirdly artistic and creative. Love this store, but truly way too pricey on many of the items, especially the obvious 'ordered through a catalogue' gifts. I know they're in the business to make money; however, I refuse to pay $20 for a...
