I was originally looking for a bike shop that wasn’t backed up due to COVID. I called this bike shop and they weren’t as back up as the others. When i dropped off my bike, they were super kind, not just one person but all of them. I told them that I wasn’t here during the weekend and would be okay with leaving it, but they insisted on trying to get my bike to me on the same day. This wasn’t the only nice thing they did, but they also called me with the problem with my bike. They told me that they would need a specific part, and if I had it, the price would be much better. Luckily I had the part and was able to get a great discount. At the end of the day, they are there to help you fix your bike, not to charge you to do some tune ups that you didn’t even need.    Read moreI came in needing new brake pads, gears adjusted, and a noise fixed. They first up-sold me to a “general tune-up” for $80. After some communication issues about when it would be ready, I picked up my bike, and found that the gears were no different. When I took the bike back, the mechanic first said he needed to teach me how to properly change the gears. Then he actually made a change, but the gear problem got worse. I should have just asked for my money back at that point, but the mechanic said he could take one more shot. After the 3rd pass, the gears seemed a bit better, but with a new noise while riding the bike. I took the bike to Montclair Bikery, where they promptly fixed the gear problem for only $15. They also noticed that the pedal chain was rather unlubricated, and lubrication was supposed to be part of the...
