UpperSchelon Luxury Hair (formerly Echelon Hair) — Local services in Maplewood

I have been using this hair for about 5 years. I have only used the Indian hair. The hair is usually very good it will last about 4-5 installs including washes in between, before it stops curling and becomes lifeless. The owner of the shop has some emotional issues. A couple of times over the years I've contacted her after receiving a bad batch meaning the tracks are laid different directions which should not be. Making the hair tangle. This has happened to me 3x over the last 5 years. She usually seems very eager to rectify a situation. The last time I had an issue with her hair tangling she sent me to a stylist she knew to fix my install so I wouldn't have to pay after just paying. Before going to her stylist she tells me right before I will have to pay her stylist 100$ to takeout reinstall cut style. I was pissed because I just paid to have my hair done. But 100$ is very cheap so to have my hair right I agreed. About 2 months later I'm getting my hair done at the same stylist and Simone is there and ask to speak to me and the stylist in the hall. She tells me she had to pay the extra money to the stylist and she's so upset because I don't return her calls and that The agreement was not for her to do all that work for 100$. I pull up the text messages that I still have in my phone and show her she accuses me of deleting messages and calls me a liar. At that point I end the conversation because it was not going anywhere. She is very messy. This is not the first time she has become emotional. She seems to think her customers owe her something or are her friends. During the period of time she was trying to replace the bad bundle she sold me. She called me every day repeatedly, then would complain that I didn't answer. The shop used to be under a different name but she is being sued by the owner of Echelon in NY. I thought they were the same company and called the NY store one time and the guy told me he's suing her for using his name and he has no affiliation with her or her shop. Generally the hair is good. But if you have to deal with her at all just be prepared for...

I have nothing but great things to say about UpperSchelon. Simone is wonderful. She’s kind, patient and wonderful to talk to. It had been months since I had my hair done (relaxed) because of COVID. I then had a family emergency and needed my hair done ASAP. I called on Simone and she did not fail me! She secured an appointment for me immediately. Of course, I had a bit of anxiety given that COVID is still alive with respect to precautions, approach, the amount of people in the salon.....Once again Simone did not fail. She makes every effort to ensure that the safety and well being of clients is top of mind (you have to be buzzed in, temperature checking, masks)! I mean I was good as soon as I walked in. I was the only client there. My stylist Fa did an amazing job working through my hair. It had been months and by the time I made it to UpperSchelon, I couldn’t even comb my hair. She treated me wonderfully, had good conversation and transformed this hair!!! It was the best service that I’ve had in quite sometime. Totally and honestly would recommend Simone and Fa to anyone. It wasn't just a makeover; it was a warm and empowering experience. And let me tell you, I felt incredibly sexy after getting my hair done at their shop.
