I'm writing about an experience I had this morning at the UPS store 2823 at 1000 Whitlock Ave SW Ste 320, Marietta, GA 30064.
I come to this location weekly and my experiences are usually fine or lean towards negative, but I've never had an experience this poor before. Examples of the things that lean towards negative: I've been there twice before at opening and they haven't been open at 8:30, it's usually been about 10 minutes late with people queuing outside. Annoying, but not a dealbreaker. Another example, employees eating their lunch, in this case a messy burrito, at the front desk. I was having copies made and there were greasy smudges on them. Again, annoying, but not a dealbreaker.
This morning (10/11/2022) I came in with 3 Amazon returns. They were from my spouse's Amazon account and had prepaid UPS QR code screenshots he had sent me. He was at the airport and couldn't make it in, so I returned them. All three had a black background around the QR code. 1 of them scanned, but the other 2 didn't. The cashier basically said "oh this happens sometimes, nothing we can do." I tried calling my husband twice to see if he could send me an alternate label, while the cashier helped another customer. I was starting to get upset because I was also going to the airport later today and this was the last chance we would have to return these items before the return window ran out. The cashier couldn't have been less bothered. Granted, it's not his problem, but a little empathy or an ATTEMPT at troubleshooting would have gone a long way.
Since I couldn't reach my spouse, who was at the airport, I asked if I could email the UPS QR codes to him and then I could cut them out and maybe they would scan. He reluctantly did this. I asked him what the email was and he scoffed and pointed at a sign on a bulletin board behind me. I emailed them, they were printed, I cut them out with a pair of scissors that were lying on a huge stack of computer paper, and put them against a white piece of paper I picked up off the ground. They both scanned. I was relieved and thanked the cashier for helping me troubleshoot that issue (even though he did nothing) and he said "you owe $1.99 for the printing." I literally could not believe this poor customer service. I said "Are you serious? I am not comfortable paying that" And he said "ok nevermind have a nice day then." I left a google review and received a very rude response from the owner that I screenshotted below.
Updating my review based on the rude response from the owner. I didn't state it was today that the store wasn't opened on time. Just that I've been there twice at opening and the store hasn't been open. Instead of being defensive, maybe try reaching out to your employees about showing up on time or open later so you don't inconvenience customers. The only reason the employee did extra work was because I tried troubleshooting this issue. He made no suggestions whatsoever and helped me reluctantly and with an attitude.. If your scanner can't read a QR code invest in a better scanner. Don't make it the customer's fault. Your employee was dismissive to me at best, and this response is a total lack of accountability. They clearly have defective equipment and I cannot believe the implication that I walked out on a bill. Especially one that I never should have had to pay. This was a really rude and upsetting experience. I feel like corporate should be aware. I've never experienced something like this at any other UPS store and I ship with UPS...
Read moreThe customer service could be better at this location. I guess I appeared as a ghost this morning because the female representative in the store kept acting as if I was not present. When I walked in there was two other people in the store, one was being helped and the other was waiting for assistance. Finally a male associate comes from the back to assist the other customer waiting. A few minutes later another customer walks in behind me. It's about 5 minutes waiting at this point, not a big deal. After the female representative finished with the person she was assisting, she immediately starts helping the customer that came in behind me, who was standing behind me. She was guiding them where to sit boxes and then they started having multiple other conversations regarding packaging, purchasing, and tape. I was being patient. Finally I walk up to the register after she directs them to get tape. She then stated my QR code was a post office code after barely attempting to scan it. I politely tell her it was a UPS code. If you work for UPS you should be able to recognize the codes. They always start with "1Z". The customer behind me walks up to the side of the calendar with tape to purchase. The female rep told me she's going to ring them up first and then help me. I told her no, and that I was here first. Her response was even worse with her smart remark and asked "is it that important". I replied, "yes it is". My time is important. I had been waiting almost 10 minutes at this point for a transaction that takes less than 30 seconds at any other store. The audacity to never acknowledge me and then just take someone who walked in the door behind me as if I was not standing there and my time is not precious. That's not how you do business and that certainly was not good service. They should greet customers as they walk in the door and at least acknowledge them. I was dropping off a package that was ready to ship and just needed her to print my receipt after scanning the code. However, she felt my time was not as precious as the others she...
Read moreMummin U is extremely unprofessional. He refused to provide service to me and makes up lies to avoid servicing me because I called him out on serval lies. Mummin first told me that I would have my cards done by last Friday or early Saturday morning. When I responded, saying that I needed my cards done before Saturday morning, he came up with all kinds of excuses to avoid servicing me. When I asked for the corporate number, he gave me the wrong number . I had to research to find the correct number for corporate . He also gave me incorrect names for himself and his employee. Mummin U,as a manager, is unethical, and his customer service is horrible.
Mummin is unprofessional he gave out the wrong information. He provokes customers. He also lied from the beginning refusing to service me . Don’t go to this store location. Staples is up the street and their customers service excellent. You get your cards same day. Also they are cheaper. Mummin is unprofessional choosing to provoke and argue with a customer. He also threatens to call the cops because I called him out on all his lies . This manager don’t even know his employees give out the wrong information. Don’t go to this store Mummin has no care for customers. Go to staples they way professional nicer and they work with you . Mummin has no care . I also recorded the call so I have proof to show corporate of his actions provoking a customer.
