West Court Food Center — Local services in Marion

Today I visited West Court. I have not been in since I moved to North Carolina and I've heard wonderful things. I have a service dog. When I entered the building multiple staff members saw me did not say anything I go back to get a particular item from the butcher and the butcher informed me that even though my dog was a service animal he was not allowed in the store. I double checked the North Carolina laws. According to federal law service dogs can accompany their handlers in an open market. I called to apologize to the owner and inform him I was not trying to be rude or disrespectful but I did inform him of the Americans with disability act and the laws that went along with it. This is my absolute, number 1 favorite store! My grandma had this as her favorite store for years in this town. Now that I'm grown, I see why. Great selection, good prices, always well stocked even during the start of covid when everyone was stock piling, this little home town store, had trucks coming in here every day! Which says a lot about what they do for this community! They really care. They have delicious chicken salad, probably the best. The staff here always goes above and beyond to treat you like family. Never a rude person and always a smile. I can't say enough great things about this store. It's definitely a part of the history and heritage of this community and I hope it stays...

We were visiting Marion for a bachelor party weekend, and we wanted to have a steak dinner. We found this place and let me tell you the older gentleman working in the meat section is the bomb! We had 9 guys and a bunch of different cuts of meat, and he was so helpful and accommodating! He helped us get exactly what we needed and even gave us some beef tips for the “grill master” to snack on while he cooked them haha. Loved the experience here! If you need steaks, check this place...
