I want to give two separate ratings.

Actual hair care process: 5 stars The stylist I had was very nice and easy to talk to. She saw the images I brought and gave me exactly what I wanted. She answered questions I had about the process and I felt/ feel very confident in her hair care abilities. I would recommend her.

Actual place of business: 2 stars I am comparing the state of the business from the last time I was there which was a few years. I had difficulty finding the building within the strip since I had remembered the name was big and visible on the fabric awning outside above the door but is currently completely gone. Once walking inside I could tell furniture had been rearranged ( non issue) and at first thought the inside very pretty. The front desk is white and there was pretty hanging light bulbs and a gorgeous brick accent wall. I was asked if I wanted something to drink and I sat down to wait. The waiting chairs are very saggy leather and faded, leaning back was to much of an angle to feel natural so I was forced to lean forward. The water I received was in a plastic half vase type cup? EXTREMELY scratched on the sides leading me to belive it was/ is used to store brushes/utensils making up for the scratches. Once going back to my chair I could see everyone's personal stations were very dingy and paint chipped. At this point I was very nervous for my hair but decided to continue. The hair wash station seemed to be newer possibly cleaner? As I didn't notice any significant chips ect. Overall it was significantly less attractive/ up to date than a few years ago when I was last there.

Special note: Every single one of the workers was very friendly and easy to talk to. The receptionist had a unique style that I admired and my stylist looked and acted very professional. I enjoyed my time with them and like I said my hair is perfect. BUT if I had never been there before and had got to the point of going to the stylist chair I might have chickened out and left for fear of low quality or...

Absolutely WONDERFUL experience!! We had a bridal party of 7 girls, plus the bride, plus 2 flower girls in yesterday for up-dos. The ladies at Design Studio East did a phenomenal job. Every single style looked great and lasted the entire night. Personally, I have hair that notoriously falls flat within an hour of getting it done. But, whatever Beth did to my hair worked because it stayed in place and did not fall the whole night and actually still looked great the next day :) The bride also had her makeup done here. Also great! She, like me, is not a person who generally wears a lot of makeup. The woman (can't remember her name) who did her makeup tailored it perfectly to the bride's skin tone and personality. She truly looked like a princess, which is what every bride should be on her wedding day! On top of their great work, they made it fun. There were 10-12 of us, coming and going the whole morning. We all felt so comfortable and were encouraged to "make ourselves at home." One more thing - they were great with the kids too! It can be quite a feat trying to get 3, 4, and 5 year olds to sit still for any amount of time, but they did it. They had seemingly unlimited patience with our little ones, putting all the moms at ease. My daughter (5yrs) was present but not in the wedding party. Morgan was so sweet to offer to curl her hair (and even add some color) so she didn't feel left out. My daughter loved it!! -and so did I :) I cannot say enough good things about Design Studio East. I went to this salon for pedicure and a so called organic spray tan! I mentioned ahead of time to the lady who was doing my pedicure I had a sugar allergy And that sugar makes me very sick! I had the spray tan done by the same lady Who did my pedicure She said it was all natural I thought it was Aveda’s but was wrong Turns out it was sugar based and caused me to get severally ILL throwing up for 6+ hours my face and neck swelled and broke into hives for days, needless to say I had to go to my doctors and get steroidal treatment, was miserable for days! I Contacted the salon to try and resolve the situation from me getting so sick and they refunded me $40 for tan but I have not heard from them regarding my doctor bill!! After I was told they would pay for it! I am not the suing type of person, just simply want my doctor bill paid and medications I had to spend money on, but they won’t return my call! Then I called Aveda cause no one was calling me back and they called for me and spoke to the owner who said she would not be calling me but I would hear from her attorney!
