I will be talking about this one employee in particular but never have I had a bad experience. I’m usually in and out with a small handful of items. But anyways I believe the name was Virginia. Or something with a V. I was waiting with my husband to get a self checkout (preferably because I’m just anxious) and Virginia comes up to try and fix 1 out of the 3 self checkouts.
She couldn’t fix and huffed and sighed about it. I walk over to the check out because she has to do the scanning now and the whole time she’s being rude about it. Rambling about the machine. And pointing fast at the check out while me and my husband know where we’re supposed to go.
She asks for my phone number (or numbers bc I had an old number so it was 2) and while I was trying to repeat the number I went to fast. So I had to repeat and go slower for her (that’s no problem!) but as she says the second batch of numbers she does a “hurry up” motion, already annoying me even more. Like wow.
As she got my number people tried to go through the doors and there was a sound going off, she tended to them and tried to fix their issue. All the while I need to pay. I kept telling her the computer wasn’t letting me pay and she ignores me. Doesn’t even let me know that she’s trying to handle something else nicely. Like flat out doesn’t care.
In the end I ask her if I need to change my phone number online not with her (I work in retail so I figure it’s smth similar) she says yes and that’s it. But she adds that she cannot fix it and reinstates its online in a rude way. I know she might’ve gotten that question before but it just made me feel she’s trying to treat all customers as stupid. ESPECIALLY pointing really hard at the station we needed to check out. Got my items but otherwise the environment and most other employees are pretty nice. This is just a...
Read moreThe staff and the store are great, but look closely at any membership deals/coupons and have them ready to show at the counter when you check out! Twice in the last week I've gone in, with two different friends, and then we've realized after the fact that a deal wasn't applied to the purchase! The first time a friend and I went in because I got an email saying members get 30% off their full purchase. The cashier asked for my membership at checkout and I gave it to her, but the deal wasn't applied, and I had to go in later with all of my stuff and a screenshot of the email to get it corrected. That took two trips because I didn't realize I would have to bring all my previous purchases back in to get it corrected. During this third trip we discovered that the first cashier missed one large item entirely (but I still got $20 back from the discount that should have been applied the first time). The staff was great and helpful when it came to the mixups, but having to go in three times to have the deal I originally went in for applied was frustrating! (My friend didn't bother coming back in). This seems to be a systematic issue. Many stores automatically apply any available "members only" deals when you give the cashier your phone number or membership card, but not Michael's apparently! The second time my Mom was handed a flier with her recipt and discovered when we got home that she should have gotten a free item with her purchase because she spent $50! She happened to pick up the item that we think was supposed to be free (an Elf), but she didn't look closely at the flier until later. There was no barcode to scan or coupon in this case, just an offer in the middle of the flier. Not sure exactly what happened here, but again, it was frustrating to...
Read moreJust left out of this store about twenty-five minutes ago ago picking up an order in framing.
An older employee back there got my order for me. Fine. However, when I asked her for a bag for it, her response was, “is it raining”? I asked her what she said. She asked it again. So I replied, “one day it will be”. Then she actually found two bags at that and I ended up using them.
After she went to the back and returned with them, I said to her, “see you trying to give a hard time and you ended up having one. You shouldn’t be trying to give customers a hard time.”
PROBLEM: #1. If I want a bag lady, just give me a bag. Surely she should know that the customer would want their items in a bag. #2. Now let’s see what other customers she will say something like that to, when they ask her something that is related to the purchase. I doubt she would have responded in that manner upon asking for a bag if: a) it were another Caucasian person, b) my mom or dad were standing there with me, c) or possibly even some other alternate circumstance.
** this is what perpetuates and contributes to society’s all over getting worse in personal relations, by the day.
And this is the exact reason that the poster I had made and picked up is representative of and the album cover of the music project I’m releasing that is dedicated to societal mishaps like this one, constant injustices , dishonesty and other wrongdoings by everyday...
