Pool facility is clean and well maintained. Music plays over a speaker system that livens the environment. Parking is limited but there is an overflow parking lot a little below the facility. Very impressed for a county run facility.
There are actually 4 pools in total. One really shallow small for toddlers and a second ~3ft pool, a bit larger for young children. There are a few picnic tables where adults can sit and watch over the young ones. The two other pools are much larger and deeper. One is dedicated for adult swimmers swimming laps in lanes, and the other pool has about 1/3 opened for general swimming and relaxing. The remaining portion of that pool is laned for swimming laps. The general pool has a minimum depth of about 6.5' to 12' on the opposite end. I'm not sure on the dept of other lap pool as I haven't been in there.
When I've been there seem to be two lifeguards on duty, one watching over the children pool and the other watching over the two...
Read moreWorst pool on island. Facilities are dated but adequate when they are not closed which has been a lot in the 8 years I have been upcountry. They do not have enough swim classes for the public but every time I try to help my son to swim there are 6 new rules that don’t make sense. Obviously safety is paramount but I have been lifeguard for 19 years and they are just ridiculous. ie Can’t use the kick board in the empty swim zone, you have to go ask some one to crowd up a lane. Can’t use a kick board for practice breast stroke, it is a kick board only. Make the drive to Kihei, way better staff...
Read moreI called a million times to find out the answer to my question, "What are the pool hours?" The website doesn't show it - and no one ever seems to have a moment to answer the phone that is listed on the Maui County site. So...I went down there and check it out. Not only is it free to swim here, the hours are visibly posted on a large sign right outside the door. The person nehiond the desk told us that the pool will be closing in December 2018 for renovations, and will probably be reopen by summer (2019). I am sharing the hours for...
