Despite being an older location, this store still holds their own in terms of size and offerings. When they opened back in the 80's at the Pukalani Terrace Center, they were the largest Foodland in the state per square footage. At the time, Safeway was expanding on the rock, so Foodland went large to take control of the growing Upcountry population. The most recent renovation added a Starbucks counter inside.
The aisles are wide and well-stocked. Other highlights are an in-house American Savings Bank, pharmacy, floral department, a deli that serves cold and hot foods including sub sandwiches, fried chicken, potato wedges, BBQ ribs, and sushi, a seafood counter (the pokē selections aren't as plentiful as Oki's in the Kahului location,) a bakery, olive bar, and Icee machine. Parking is plentiful and service is friendly.
As is common knowledge of Foodland stores, they have a larger selection of Asian and local groceries than competitors. And, their Maika'i rewards program can't be beat, offering free products...
Read moreEver since they updated the store. The service has been getting better. I shop here mostly because of the lady's in the pharmacy. They have been taking care of me for years, they go above and beyond and they know what meds I should have and go the extra mile to make sure I have everything that I need. I will even go as far as to say best pharmacy on the island. A lot of the people in the store are very helpful as far as employees go. Seems like managers seem to come and go at this store. But it's nice that a lot of the employees have been there for a while. The quality of the products has improved a lot. The meat dept seems to always have a nice selection and the poke and sea food Dept also do a great job. A lot of the guys in the produce Dept also seem to go out of there way to help out. In general I am happy that this is my local store. They do a great job and the store looks great. This is a good locals store or if your a visitor a nice place to pickup some great...
Read moreI live on Oʻahu and always shop at Foodland — it’s one of my favorite places, and I’ve always had great experiences at the locations here. She acted like I was a bother or taking up her time, and it made me feel pretty unwelcome. I ended up just leaving and didn’t even buy anything I was planning to. It was surprising, because I’ve come to expect such good service from Foodland. Hopefully that’s not the usual vibe at the Maui location. Still giving it 3 stars, because they have nice poke selection and sweet...
