The atmosphere of this store was wonderful. I felt as if I was shopping in Europe. Prices were fair and many options were available.HOWEVER as my family and I were checking out we received some of The WORST service I have experienced. We were denied an alcohol sale of two bottles of wine simply because my teenaged brother was with us in the checkout line(you know, the way all families buy groceries in a store). Though both my father and I showed our IDs the young lady with many exposed tattoos ( Notably the word "good" on her knuckles) said that unless he had an ID as well she could not sell it to us. When asked if other families with children are able to purchase alcohol she avoided the question, became irratable, and exclaimed how her husband was a cop and that she knows the law. I understand that sales of alcohol must be regulated and closely examined, but telling a family they cannot buy alcohol simply because a minor is present is discriminatory, unjust, and unprofitable for the company. This kind of customer service is unacceptable. It is not the job of an employees to profile and pick and choose who recieves proper service. And it is most certainly not there job to enforce the law, only to obey it and act in accordance (despite marital status to an officer). Unfortunately I will NOT be returning to this location to shop. A store with such high standards and high quality food ought to have a higher standard for sevice and friendliness.
Also, if you have children and intend to buy alcohol from this location I suggest not bringing them along. Clearly not a family...
Read moreOk, so I’m giving it a 4 star rating primarily for the low prices. Aside from that, it’s not a very pleasant shopping experience. I admit that it’s become my default cheap, quick shop when I can’t make it to Costco. The prices on staples like bread, eggs (.79) and milk (normally $1.25), are some of the lowest anywhere. The bakery is full of good, sweet treats. Their price on cheese is lower than most grocery stores but Costco is lower. Their selection of ethnic foods is poor. Their meat prices are competitive. The prices on lunch meats and sausage is good when it’s on sale. The produce is limited and average quality at best. If you consume it within a few days it’s fine.
Their selection overall is generally very limited but their prices are very low.
If you have a small family, this would be a good place to shop. For a large family, shop at Costco and pick up your eggs, bread and milk here.
They have a large, useless section of cheap, random home goods and clothes in the middle of the store that is a waste of space and time.
Tip: bring your own bags to load your groceries into and be prepared to load your own cart as well. No one is available to assist you with getting the groceries from the belt to the cart and you better hurry before the next person’s order is finished. (That part is a...
Read more"Rethink Groceries" is an appropriate slogan for this store. Lidl has excellent freshly baked goods, good fresh produce, makes you buy bags, and is trying to be more Green. It is enjoyable and good. They restock on Mon/Thurs. Lidl is different from other Groceries in that it isn't necessarily supposed to have EVERYTHING you could imagine buying. Its efficient sourcing has name brands at discounted prices and off brands at even lower prices. Prices on essentials are very low (think eggs, milk, bread, etc.) And they have healthy options throughout. Their bakery is delicious and fresh bread(you buy loaves of bread and can get them sliced there for lower prices). Their wine section is large and has a rating system for wine novices. Compared to other nearby grocers, their prices are significantly better. However, they may not have your absolute favorite brand of insert item, but they most likely have a healthier or cheaper alternative. Also note that you have to bring bags or pay less than 10 ¢ for some. They have a mini recycling center up front as well. Overall, the shopping experience was a pleasant one with it's quirks but that's because it is your standard store. Get used to it and...
