Without a doubt the food is great. However, the first time I encounter the owner was over the phone for to go, hearing that she can’t understand me clearly I repeated my orders. When I got there I told her I wanted to place four more orders of pork for four people, on top of the four noodles bowls and four extra pork I ordered prior on the phone. I also repeated my orders again because she didn’t seem to understand me. My receipt came to be a lot more than what I thought it was but i paid no attention to it. When the food came out it was 8 ramen bowls instead of four... I brought it to her attention and she tried to argue with me that I told her 4 more bowls instead of four more pork. I have repeated myself knowing that she couldn’t understand me. She refused to do anything about it, saying “there’s nothing I can do” I was frustrated but the lines were getting longer and people were starring so I told her it’s fine and left. I didn’t want to be the rude customer that hold off her customers and prevent her from making money. She have lost a customer that day, I work in restaurants as well so I understand how this industry works. Paying that four extra bowl of ramen was not the issue, money can be earned back... it’s the fact that she stood there and told me that that’s not what I ordered and it irritated me. I placed the order, I’m well aware of what I had ordered. It’s her responsibility to understand the customer and prevent mistakes. She did not own up to her mistake and she pushed it onto the customer, refusing to do anything about it. Plus when I place order I literally said for FOUR people after saying add four more pork, what sense would that make to order...
Read moreI feel like there’s a lot of new ramen places opening up recently with mediocre overpriced ramen. This place is the complete opposite of that. Everything at menkoi is always so fresh and flavorful. Everything is super high quality. I love the Tonkotsu ramen and the rice balls. I’ve had other broths of theirs as well. They have all been really good. I haven’t had anything from here that disappoints. The prices are very reasonable. There’s a place down the road that opened up charging 18 dollars a bowl. And that place has reviews saying the broth tastes watered down and the noodles are just instant noodles. Another place opened up charging 14 a bowl and they don’t even cook their own eggs in house. They buy boiled eggs and add them to their bowls. So no runny yolks there and who knows what other corners they are cutting. Where here at menkoi it’s running around 9-10 dollars a bowl. The broth is always so flavorful and the noodles are not instant ramen noodles. They are fresh. The eggs are always cooked perfectly with that soft yolk you would traditionally find in ramen. They know what they are doing here and I will definitely pick this place over these new places opening up that honestly I don’t think they know what...
Read moreI had the tonkatsu ramen for my first visit and two salmon rice balls. First the broth. It wasnt super strong nor was it weak. It had a delectable aftertaste and makes that silky feeling after drinking it. Quite yummy. The noodles were made well, a tad chewy for those of you who like chewy noodles. It came with spinach, naruto(spiral fishcake), the pork, nori/seaweed sheet, green onions, and a softboiled egg.
The rice balls were slightly salted and a good portion. The salmon inside was seasoned well. Reminds me of home!
They have a lovely selection of popular asian drinks: ramune, green tea ec As well as somr popular snacks at the front: hi chew, pocky etc.
Not a super bad place to eat at all! The mistress at the front was lovely and very welcoming as well as helpful ^^
What i loved most is they had the shicimi pepper topping as well as the white pepper topping.
How wonderfully simplistic! I absolutely enjoyed...
