Warm Up and Feel Healthily Full with Some of the Best Ramen in Town

Even though it is, Zen Ramen feels anything but like a chain restaurant. Tucked away in a strip mall, it’s easy to overlook, but trust me—don’t. Next time you pass by, make a point to stop in. You won’t regret it.

While I haven’t ventured into their sushi burritos yet, the Pop Rock shrimp is a must-order appetizer. Imagine something in the “bang bang shrimp” family but somehow better—crispy, spicy, sweet, and downright addictive. In my opinion, it’s the best appetizer in the city.

As for the ramen, the tonkotsu options are the star of the menu. I’d recommend opting for chicken over shrimp, especially if you’re pairing it with the pop rock appetizer. We ordered the chicken on the side so it didn’t soak up too much broth, but it will work beautifully both ways. One of my favorite touches is the ability to get spice on the side, letting you adjust each bite to suit your mood. To top it all off, the Yogo Vera drinks are a perfect pairing. They’re sugary and probably not healthy at all, but their sweetness balances the salty richness of the ramen flawlessly.

This is, without a doubt, my favorite ramen spot, and I’ll absolutely be back for more. You feel so full but in a healthy good way after you’re don’t. That said, I’d recommend dining in—takeout doesn’t quite capture the...

I have been here 3 times, weeks apart, and in each case, the food has been terrific, but the service was horrible. Last night (10/24/21) was the worst service so far. We were sat(party of 6) and waited 20 mins for our drink order to be taken, then the drinks came one or two at a time. The server wanted to take order before all the drinks were down. Two tables that were sat after us got drinks and food before our food order was taken, and were done and leaving as we got our food. One of our party had a quarter-sized piece of hard black plastic in the ramen. They just asked if we wanted another order of ramen. It took two hours for an hour dinner. When the food was brought, she asked if we needed any sauces -and got the sauce- but never returned for drink refills in 2 hours. We had to walk to the counter and ask for them at the end. The food was great, again, but the service has been bad every time I’ve been. It’s a shame because the experience is spoiled by the lack of service, even though we enjoy the food. And it’s such a small place, only like 5 tables, I don’t understand why it’s so difficult. And I have been a server, so I understand what’s involved. I’ll wait awhile...

I'm a huge foodie and love food more than writing reviews BUT this is so worthy of praise!!! What a gem and will now be one of my favorites for poke and Boba tea. We started with the pop rock shrimp (you gotta try this!) Perfectly battered crispy and tender shrimp covered in this yummy balanced sauce. Then we both had the tuna poke....ummm...WOW! The tuna was fiberless and a superior grade and a lot of it with the freshest vegetables edamame cucumber ginger lettuce sweet radish seaweed and a generous portion of crab salad. We each had a Boba tea 1 milk and 1 watermelon they were both delicious. The waitress and cashier was super friendly knowledgeable and was a previous client loved it so much she works there. The atmosphere and music were hip and fun. Can't say enough about our visit was perfection. Great place! Can't wait to come back and try the rest...

Food was delicious with interesting flavors! You get *alot* of noodles with your bowl, so be mindful when getting double noodles. Boba was sweet but delicious. The pop rock shrimp was ON FIRE. it was so good. We cleaned the plate quickly and loved it. I took points off for : one peroson ordered something with avacado and got no avacado. A few cleanliness items such as the wall being covered In sauve in the booth. Something in one of the ramen tasted.... Off? Like bad grease. Gave points for : customer service. The hostess talked with us and gave inciteful feedback and recommendations. The food was mostly on point. She juggled multiple guests really well. Even took Togo orders out to people waiting outside so they didn't have to wait inside. Everyone wore a mask. This is the ramen place Greenville has needed for a long time.
