I’ve been a loyal member of this gym for several years and have always appreciated the facility—until recently. Ever since a woman named Pam started working at the front desk (older, dark hair), the quality of service has noticeably declined.
On multiple visits, Pam has come across as confused, inattentive, and generally disinterested in helping members. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe she was new or still adjusting, but the issues have continued for weeks.
Pam often seems unsure how to handle simple tasks like checking in for a hydro massage or answering basic account questions. What’s worse is the tone she uses—it’s consistently rude and condescending. This past weekend, I brought a guest with me, and she was treated with the same dismissive attitude.
It’s disappointing to feel unwelcome at a place I’ve been coming to for years. The rest of the staff and the facility are great, but front desk service plays a huge role in the member experience. The morning staff here is fantastic—always punctual, friendly, and ready to greet you with a smile. They've been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, offering guidance whenever I have questions about specific equipment. The facility is consistently clean, and it’s a rarity to find machines out of service. This level of maintenance really sets the Maynard location apart. One of the highlights for us is the 30-Minute Workout room. It’s been a game-changer in keeping us engaged in fitness, especially as a couple in our late 60s. The owners of this franchise should be forced to sell it. I encourage everyone to not join this gym and complain to PF headquarters about this (I know I will!)
Original review: Second time in recent weeks that I've shown up to this planet fitness during posted business hours, getting myself out of bed and here shortly after their 5 AM open time (like I do every day), only to find their slacker staff has slept in. Apparently, it's too difficult to unlock a door and turn on a light switch. This place is incredibly unreliable, they don't fix broken equipment and I'm fed up with it. Get your act together!
