I knew something wasn’t right after my first appt with Melissa. She was unable to color match me and lift my blonde to match the extensions she ordered, and she backed other appts up on top of mine so she was unable to fix it. She said I needed to pay for a few more blondinf appts and this was a “work in progress”. I left the salon with two different colored hair, and not blended. I was unable to put my hair up above a super low pony and if I tucked my hair the extension would end up digging in to my ear. I couldn’t do half ups or anything based on placement. When I brought this to her attention at the move up appt she said that’s normal because I needed “three rows”. The top row was right at the top of my crown, second in the middle straight across with the edges laid right on top of my ears/temple. “Third row” was right at the Bottom head/ top of my neck. On top of this, I had been unable to blend my hair. The top row of my hair was a straight line across the extensions and I asked her to layer and blend my hair with the extensions. Her response was “you can’t layer extensions”. I knew something wasn’t right, I had done enough research prior to getting them done to know they should be blended. I left this appt and the next day 2 of my beads in two rows already fell out and I had a flight that evening. Coming back from a trip, I asked her to fix the beads, she requested I book for two row move ups which is a $100 deposit. I have been doing blonde for almost a decade now and my hair lifts very easily. I have gone to a session almost a year out and been able to be lifted pretty well. She was the first person to tell me it’ll take multiple sessions to be as blonde as the color match she chose in my extensions. If this were the case, she should have made them match prior to sewing them in. Instead her advice was to curl my hair. So I reach out to two different people: one verbally who is an extension stylist I knew in CO and once she had verified my concerns, I went to a new salon completely. Without telling them my concerns, they verified all these concerns on their own. and even more. They were also placed in locations, like above my ear and below the occipital bone that prevents styling and causes hair damage. And she placed a “mini row” at my neckline, yet called it three rows and charged as such. I now had to get them removed and have to have them completely reinstalled to be in the right locations for both styling and to prevent hair loss. I ended up needing more hair as well which is half the reason it wouldn’t blend correctly. On top of needing layered and blended. This was a very large financial investment. Someone who sells themselves as a professionally trained installer, and charges as such, should be doing the job you expect. She states that she knows extensions and people trust her because she wears them herself. Sadly, being trusted for “all her extensive training” was my biggest regret and I foresee that she needs quite a bit more before charging what she does and claiming to do professional installs.
Follow up: after texting a professional text requesting a refund, Melissa called me and I explained my complaints further. Expressing that I was unhappy with the color match, the lack of blend, etc which I brought up at previous appt. She proceeded to become verbally aggressive and refused to refund. She then texted post call and proceeded to harass me. She also stated that she has our conversation recorded per...
Read moreI recently moved to Mechanicsville and had not had a haircut since the beginning of COVID, 3 plus years. Yikes! I decided to check out Dream Loxx Studio because they were near and had great Google reviews. I'm ecstatic that I did and was not disappointed. Was going for something drastically short and sassy, big change. It's really hard to find someone that knows how to work with curly hair. Melissa was awesome and incredibly fast. I was in and out of there in 20 minutes. Best haircut I've ever had, really! I get so many compliments daily and it meant a lot to me when my daughter and I went on a road trip later that day, hiked 4 miles and after sleeping on it, unwashed, unbrushed, she says...."Mom, it looks even better today than it did yesterday. That needs to be your go-to style". Thank you, Melissa. You are so amazing and your professionalism was certainly on display. I...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of meeting Melissa @ Dream Loxx and I can't say enough great things about the experience! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and relaxing. Melissa took the time to listen to my ideas and concerns, making me feel valued and understood. Throughout the appointment, her friendly demeanor and genuine passion for her craft made the experience enjoyable and fun. I left the salon not only looking fantastic but also feeling rejuvenated. I highly recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a talented and dedicated hair stylist. Typically, I dread sitting in a chair for 2 hours talking about the weather, not with Melissa. She is genuine and easy to chat with. Thank you for being you! I appreciated the honesty and fun...
