MOD Pizza — Restaurant in Virginia

Heard about Mod long before but didn't realize there was a location in Mechanicsville, thought the only one in the area was in Southside (there's a location in Innsbrook/Short Pump also). Saw it about a month ago and finally ordered today. Was very impressed. I think the quality and taste is hard to beat at their price point. Staff was friendly for my visit. Was quoted 20 mins online and I showed up 10 mins after thinking I'd have time to look around and see what the place was like since this was my first visit. But, I walked in and my order was ready, so maybe next time. (I ordered after lunch but before dinner; so I'd imagine wait time would vary accordingly) I got the "Diego" (which is a limited time option) and the "Dillon James" (their take on a Margherita) and both were very good. Toppings choice is nicely varied and seem of high quality (they have fresh Basil, which is one of my personal favs). They use a fired oven so the crust was thin and crispy but still had a nice chew. I'll definitely be back to check out more. They also carry Boylan sodas, so do yourself a flavor favor and pick up a Boylan grape or black cherry soda. All employees today, 5 in total, touching thing mouth, nose, hair, phone and cash register for over 5 minutes then put on gloves and make food. Not one person washed their hands first. Not one. NOT even the MANAGER. 5 employees stood behind the counter taking, snacking and checking out each iPhones, meanwhile a single mother if 3 had to clean two high chairs. She couldn’t get the first one cleaned it was so crusted she had to go get another one then clean that with wipes from her purse. An old guy had to clean his table before he sat down. Only 3 tables had customers. The floors are dirty the customer stand needs to be stocked. But hey, the poor miss understood, demanding tips, (I’m for what???) employees are having fun with their social media. I’m so disappointed, Mod pizza is a great concept and a delicious product. These selfish children are ruining it. Grow up and have some dignity, dirty hands can kill children and the elderly. Shame on you. Someone should tell them before the health...

The food is excellent and most of the workers are extremely nice. However today I went to place a order on line and couldn’t order a fountain drink so I called to see if I could pay for a 20 oz drink and swap it out due to my family having Covid. A manager picked up and hung up on me and was very rude for no reason. Before he picked up the person ask him a question and he was rude in the back ground as well before hanging up in my face. Needless to say I didn’t place the 40.00 dollar order. I can take my business elsewhere, where I’m treated with respect, and appreciated as a loyal customer.
