They made my bike worse and I'm still sorting it out 6 months later. Felt dealer, so I thought I was in good hands. Here is why I'll never go back. 1: I requested a 12-25 cassette and they put an 11-25 on and I spent 2 months wondering if I needed a 19 cog. Then was told 11-25 is normal, helps you go faster, and they didn't think shim made one. Give me what I ask for. 2: Returned bike with a loose cassette. Turns out the free hub bearing were damaged. The cassette was bit in so they likely killed the bearings. Either way, it was popping and making a racket so I had to replace the bearings. Don't give bikes back with loose cassettes. 3: indexing has been horrible ever since my visit. I have been able to index my own bikes as it's very easy. I found out tonight why it won't shift predictably. The cable housing at the bottom bracket is missing. Felt installs a mouse tail and wheelies throws it away. See pictures. 4: amateur amounts of cable housing. Just garbage work quality.
After going back to get a refund on the cassette they wanted me to have and ask why I was given the bike in such bad condition, they actually said I should have brought it back first. The amateur work and "get it done right the second time" is why anyone with a proper road bike should seek professional mechanics or just buy the tools yourself. 6 months later and as I'm changing the wheelies jagwire cables for Shimano, I find the cables running over the bottom bracket guide with no housing. No wonder it shifts at random. You have been warned. So much for trying to support local business.
I just noticed that they also installed the BB guide backwards. I can't believe you profitted off of this you clowns. Nothing more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have had my electric bikes in on a few different occasions and had good service. The last time was to change out a tire. When I called up two weeks later I was told it would be ready later that day but the he couldn't find the 3" tire replacement. Larry said the 4" tire tire he put on would work just fine, I said fine and tipped his helper who helped me load the bike back into our SUV. We left on a road trip with with our bikes even though the new tire did not fit well on the rack. We went to Mackinac Island in Michigan I was riding with my wife when she complained that the tire was rubbing. I rode up behind her and I could hear the rubbing as well. When we got home a few weeks later I called the shop and asked if I provided the "proper tire" would he do the change out for nothing, but Larry was busy. I was told Larry would call me back. I called again the next day when I didn't hear from him and was asked to wait which I did. After a prolonged silence I knew the answer was going to be no. I was told it would be half price. I did not respond well and hung up on him. From my point of view as a repeat customer the labor to replace the wrong tire with the right one supplied by me was a reasonable request. It will obviously cost more to have someone else do the work but I'll be damned if I'll ever go back there again. PS I didn't have any trouble locating the "right...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI brought my Ride1Up ebike to Wheelies after a fall caused the rim on the back wheel to warp. Another reputable bike shop recommended Larry from Wheelies, but my experience with them was less than satisfactory.
Larry initially promised to get me an estimate for both options - replacing the rim and spokes or getting a new rear wheel with motor installed - by the end of the day on Friday. I also forwarded Larry the email I received from Ride1Up with the info for the replacement back wheel and motor. Friday came and went, and I did not receive any communication from Wheelies. When I called back on Monday, I was told the same thing - they'll get back to me by the end of the day.
After a week of not hearing anything, I stopped by to retrieve my ebike. Larry told me that the vendor (Ride1Up) did not have the part and did not respond to his inquiries. As soon as I got home I ordered the replacement wheel with motor from Ride1Up Two weeks later, the replacement rear wheel with motor arrived, and my friend helped me install it.
While I understand that businesses can be busy, I found it unacceptable that Wheelies lied about the availability of the part and when they would get back to me. I will not be returning to Wheelies and cannot recommend...
