Cielito Lindo Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Medford Township

My rating is based only on the food since I ordered online and had it delivered. I ordered a Burrito de Pollo and a Quesadilla. The Burrito was a good portion like several other Mexican restaurants. But the taste was nothing to brag about in my opinion. There wasn't much going on in the burrito. I feel like it needs more seasonings, more flavor. A spicy sauce did come on the side though. The sauce was spicy, and I love spicy things, but the sauce flavor just wasn’t for me. I understand not everyone likes spicy foods, but with Mexican food, what makes it good is the spices and sauces cooked into the main course, not putting it on the side and making the customer put it on after its done cooking. I just did not get that from the Burrito. Now the quesadilla, I didn’t read the description, and just assumed it was a chicken quesadilla, but it wasn’t. I don't exactly know how an authentic quesadilla id supposed to be cooked, but the tortilla didn't seem cooked, no golden brown, it just seemed like a undercooked tortilla. I tried it anyway, and again the flavor wasn’t much to brag about. Again, no seasonings or spices and came with a mediocre sauce on the side. And to be quite honest, I preferred the taste of the Burrito over the quesadilla. Overall, of these two dishes, there was no Mexican pizazz, not much flavor, and no spice. I was a loyal customer up until last night. I ordered frequently and was beyond disappointed not just because of the food but the way the manager handled the situation . My take out orders are roughly 100-220$ every-time I order. The prices were raised but not changed on line . I usually order multiple orders of their ceviche bc it’s so delicious. Last night it was half and less than half in another container. For 18.00$ per container and to be given half the portion and haven’t it super warm I was upset and called the restaurant . The gentlemen answering the phone stated it was warm bc they were trying to keep up with the orders for the Phillies game . That has nothing to do with a customer not getting what they paid for. I later proceeded to ask if their portions changed he later transferred the call to the manager who was arguing with the customer of the food being the same and pre dispensed evenly . She later offered for me to bring back the 2 ceviches to see and give us new ones. The 25 min drive there and 25 min drive back was not worth almost 40$ of 2 ceviches appetizers mistake and to not have the manager not available to speak to instead the server had the bag of the new ceviches by the door and took the ceviches that I brought back for her to see what we were given .Which with Covid your not suppose to take back food once it leaves your establishment. Our family enjoyed our fine dinner here. The highlights were the Molcajetes tolteca, or lava bowl, so interesting and delicious ...the chicken enchiladas, the rojo sauce is sublime, a REAL enchilada sauce made without tomato, only chiles, this was so velvety smooth and absolutely delicious, I have heard of this preparation, but until now, it was only a legend. Also enjoyed thoroughly was the hurache chilango the best way for this gringa to describe it is a mexican pizza, super tasty and quite filling. I can imagine this being a great choice for lunch with a salad. We had a few other dishes as well, all were freshly prepared and well arranged, nicely balanced and beautiful to look at. There is a childrens section in the menu, very affordable. One thing though, the tacos are soft, not the crunchy shells. We sat outside, the covered patio was nicely decorated with festive lighting , wrought iron tables at some parts and heavy oak tables otherwise. The table presentation and dishware were obviously a nod to a beloved homeland, very comforting. They take credit cards, no liquor license, but they allow you to bring your own . Bathrooms were clean and nicely decorated. Staff is efficient and very welcoming, even though they wore a mask, you could hear them smiling. Very cheerful and...
