I have been a very loyal customer and always enjoyed my shopping experience . Last week I had family visiting from Indiana, George and Colorado and I decided to take everybody out for a fun day antiquing. Everyone had a great time and together we spent almost a thousand dollars. I was the last one to check out and I noticed that I was over charged. I asked the young man to go over the prices of the items with me and we came to the conclusion that one item should have been 40% off but I was charged full price. The young man looked in a book and said it showed the item should be 20% off but not 40. The young lady working with him said that I was correct and that the item should be 40% off. I told them both that the booth has a sign that clearly states 40% off. The young man said that the booth owner changed his mind and that the stuff is 20% not 40%. They absolutely should have honored the price that was advertised. It was the owners fault for not paying attention to what he was doing not the customers. I realize that because of the Labor Day specials they had lots of booth sales but all the more reason to have the booth owners know and be responsible for what they have advertised! I...
Read moreIt's gotten to the point where every time I make a purchase from this place, I will get home and come to find out that the item was either a new item, despite having been described as "vintage" on the tag, or the vendor will put out a new modern item and resell it in the store for twice the retail price. This happened recently when I purchased 3 decorative newer items from a vendor for $45 each. The vendor scribbled out the manufacturer/store name on the item's original label still attached. When I got home and looked online to see if there were more in the series I could find, I saw that the items I purchased are from World Market and available to purchase today at the store for $22.50 ea. So, basically, I spent $70 more purchasing from the rip-off artist/vendor at America's Antique Mall than if I had walked into World Market and purchased there. Part of the problem with not only this antique store but the one across the street from it is, too much of the merchandise is newer, and not vintage or antique at all. And if the item is newer, it's price may be inflated by the vendor to get over on the customer....
Read morewell call me a purist, but this is not a true antique mall. More than 60% of this mall is reproduction wholesale goods, things that you can find at hobby lobby and other stores like that. There are people selling soaps and teas and many gift store type items. After spending about an hour there I finally came across the true antique booths which are mostly on the left side of the store. For this area I feel that most of it was very overpriced. My family shops in many antique and vintage malls, and for some reason the prices here are just way higher. Furthermore when I made my purchases I was not given the discount that one of the dealers had advertised in their booth. I did not realize this until I got home and looked at my receipt. The dealer offered 20% off but I was not given the 20% off at checkout. There are other antique malls in the area That stay true to their name. Perhaps if this were called a variety mall or a collectible mall I would’ve expected something different than...
