I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Melbournes Kids Village and feel compelled to share my concerns about the facilityâs health and safety practices. On Monday, I contacted the staff to inform them that my child, who attended the facility on Friday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, had been diagnosed with chickenpox. My call was not to complain but to responsibly notify the management so they could alert other families and consider a temporary closure for thorough medical sanitization. Regrettably, the response I received was far from professional. The staff dismissed my concerns, emphasizing their use of commercial-grade cleaning products while adopting a defensive and unapologetic tone. This lack of accountability was alarming.
Since then, the situation has worsened. My son, who has been quarantined with chickenpox, (we have all not left home) and my daughter, who developed symptoms including fever, loss of appetite, and restlessness, were both diagnosed with hand, foot, and mouth disease. I also learned that another child, unrelated to my family and present at the facility on Friday afternoon, contracted the same illness. This suggests a significant lapse in sanitation protocols. When I called again to report the additional diagnosis of hand, foot, and mouth disease, the staffâs response was dismissive and unprofessional. They incorrectly assumed I was at the facility with friends, despite my clarification that the affected children were there at different times with the MIL not even my friend. The staffâs condescending tone, including remarks implying I misunderstood the diseaseâs symptoms, was unacceptable, especially given my accurate description of fever, restlessness, and the subsequent rash. Saying its been a week since Iâve been there
As a parent who takes great care to protect my children from such diseases, I am appalled by the apparent lack of rigorous health measures at Mel Burns Kids Village. I strongly urge other parents to exercise caution and hope the management takes immediate action to address these serious concerns. Transparency, accountability, and proper sanitization are critical, and I regret to say this facility fell short in...
Read moreI used to be able to give 5 stars but not these days. Kids village has gone through a couple different pricing updates in the past 9 months. Initially they changed their policy to ever with the regular walker membership, you got 2 free classes a month. After I believe 2 months, they raised their prices and made two additional pricing tiers and only those top 2 tiers get any classes. Which for me is actually ok because Iâm not impressed with the music class they have. But for now for $40 a month for the open play membership, I expect the facility to be as kid-safe as possible and itâs not. For several weeks, my daughter has been falling because of the foam flooring bubbling up in places. I inquired about it a week ago to make sure they were aware and I was told that the owner is aware and he is slowly gluing down all of the foam pieces. Well Iâm still paying $40/ month so his needs to get his act in gearâIâm not paying to see my daughter keep falling onto her face because his floor is a hazard. Also, thereâs a new lady at the front who started right about the time of the most recent rate hike and sheâs fairly aggressive. I heard her kick a lady out of the new front play area because she said her child was too old, which is interesting because I was told different things about the requirements for playing in that front areaâone person told me they had to still be a crawler and another said under 16 months is allowed. Oh and you have to essentially be double signed in when you come nowâthey sign you in and then you have to wait for them to prep the customer sign in machine, where you then sign in using your phone number. And you earn points for each visitâwhich could be a cool incentive if it wasnât like 15 points/Mâs needed to get a bag full of 3 goldfish crackers. I want to continue liking this place but Iâm getting frustrated that the floor isnât being addressed in a timely fashion and the rates...
Read moreThis was our first experience there and it was for my daughters birthday. Everything came out beautiful. The place was clean and the kids had a blast. The party hosts were kind and helpful. There were a couple of things my husband and I were not happy with and maybe a future suggestion for them to change. One, was the use of socks. It was our first time there and many of our guests first time there too. They never once mentioned that we needed socks. Yes, they offered some for sale, but I donât like the idea of having my guests pay for socks for their kids and for themselves to accompany their kids. They could simply state that on the website or in one of the party planning phone calls we had. Second, in a couple of calls Iâve had about the party they stated kids 7 and up wouldnât be charged. This was a toddler birthday party but I had my son and a couple of other sibling that were 7 and 8. I was able to increase some of the toddler guest count counting on the fact that I knew I wouldnât get charged for the siblings. Once there they told me it was 8 and up. Some of the siblings were 8, they still charged me for them because they said it had to be above 8. They should then say â9 and upâ not â8 and upâ. I donât mind paying for 2 extra kids but it would be helpful for them to state this rule on the website so that we are not playing the he said she said game. Overall, it was a great experience and a great place to have a party in. I would recommend it for someoneâs party but would love to see those...
