Swirl Works — Local services in Menlo Park

I've done several workshops at Swirlworks, and they have all been top-notch. The setting is gorgeous, serene, and a perfect place to tap your artistic potential. It's there even if you don't realize it. The workshop artists are pros - patient, and they don't let you lose sight of the fact that the art is about engaging in the process, without angst about the outcome. I need that. So far I've explored things that I've always been curious about - flower arranging and oil painting. I showed up, got to try something totally new to me, and got lost in the process. Swirlworks' artistes were great. They were patient, and gave everyone personal attention, making us all feel good about our time there, and the end-products we left with. I was also psyched to try totally new activities in letter press, and watercolor painting. I now have my personally created cards. I loved it, even as I got a new appreciation for printing of old. Same for painting with watercolors.

My 13-year-old daughter was interested in Swirl Works’ scent-blending workshop, so I booked a session for the two of us. I usually avoid perfumes because they give me headaches, so I was a little hesitant going in—but I’m so glad we did it!

To my surprise, I didn’t get any headaches at all, and the experience was genuinely so much fun. Exploring the different scent options and discovering what I liked (and didn’t like!) was fascinating. And my daughter and I had completely different preferences, which made it even more fun to compare. Kori, the owner, was incredibly warm and calming throughout the session. She mentioned she’s also sensitive to scents and has thoughtfully curated options that are gentle and headache-free—something I really appreciated.

I absolutely LOVE the scent I created and wear it almost every day. It lifts my mood instantly. I’m actually almost out because I’ve enjoyed it so much! Such a memorable and joyful experience....

What an incredible experience my team had at Swirl Works' fragrance workshop. Kori, the owner, is a master perfumer and a wonderful instructor. She broke down perfumery concepts and made it accessible and fun for the entire group. The workshop itself was held in their outdoor courtyard, creating the most perfect and beautiful setting. A Mexican lunch from a local restaurant was also included in the package, and a great way to end the workshop while Kori and her assistant Lexi bottled our creations and presented us with our take home gifts and certificates. An extra bonus for being located in the Allied Arts Guild which was so lovely to walk around and picture take! Truly a five-star experience from start to finish....
