Merced Certified Farmers' Market — Local services in Merced

Once a year WIC customers get $20 in vouchers to spend at the farmers market. This year it has been demonstrated that the farmers discriminate against WIC customers due to this fact: 1st stand I arrived at 4 small chillies $1, 4 shriveled cucumbers $1, shriveled egg plant 2 for a $1...2nd stand fruit resembling a plum small in size 2lbs for $2. 3rd stand ears of corn very small in size picked too early $1 each. Final stand 5lbs for $5 white peaches. You would think farmers would put out their best produce when presenting to the public but instead they presented their toss...

It's easy to get to and there's a good variety of things to choose from. The vendors are nice and there's plenty of room in between so you aren't going to get smashed in between people. I wish we had a couple more vendors and maybe a little more time, but the summers get too hot... I don't make it often but I try to get there early as some things go fast. Love buying my ripe vine red tomatoes, white/yellow pluot plums (the best ever). I won't eat any other but these plums. Fresh vine grapes, so good. Especially the red flame seedless grapes.
