Moran's TV & Appliance — Local services in Meriden

DO NOT bring your TV here for repair. I was told the TV would be ready 2 weeks after I dropped it off. I followed up after a couple of weeks and was told he was waiting for a part to come in and it may take weeks or even months. Now keep in mind, before I brought the TV in for repair, he knew what part was needed and said he is able to get the part. There was no mention that it could take several months to get the part until AFTER I paid the deposit and waited a couple of weeks. As time went on, the excuses kept changing. At first we were waiting for the part, then he needed to clear space on the table in back before he could start working on it, then he started telling me they are so busy with refrigerator repairs he doesn't have time to work on my TV. At one point I was told some employees went to a wedding and called out of work the following day when they were supposed to get my TV up on the workbench. I never received a phone call with an update the entire time. I am not one of those people that calls every day, so I would wait 2 - 4 weeks and call for an update. These excuses went on for MONTHS. At one point Jim said I can pick up the TV and bring it somewhere else, BUT he had taken the master board out of my TV and sent it to a parts distributor so that part would be missing. After more than 6 months, I got the TV back. Even when the TV was ready, it was me who called to check the status and was surprised when he said the TV was ready . Within 2 months of getting it back, several backlit LED's burned out, which was part of the original repair. Jim was pleasant to talk to and seems nice, but once he had my deposit and I invested weeks and weeks of waiting, it turned into one of the worst experiences Iv'e ever had with a small shop. I really wanted to give them my business. During covid, it is important to give business to local small businesses. I needed a part repaired on my washer, and called them. Due to local storms they weren't able to come earliest at least 5 days later. Told them no huge deal since I could still use the washer. The 2 men finally showed after I called numerous times every day to see when they would come. I had bought a used part (admittedly) tech said he didn't feel comfortable putting it in bc it was used and not new ... OK Returned that one and bought a new one (only needed them for labor not the actual part). I called back 2 days later letting them know I got the part. I was told my name was "put in the book, he will call you". After a total of 3 weeks from start to (never finished) they ghosted me. They never called me. I guess they didn't need my business after all. Terrible being from Meriden, all of the online community told me to go to Moran's. Also, they don't give you a time frame like all other businesses in the world The day they came up finally try to fix it, they just called me from s blocked number, asking me if I was home. The company I hired instead called me back the same day, and was at my house the next day and my washer was fixed. Too bad ....I wouldn't...

After many long years of dealing with substandard appliances from Lowe’s and Home Depot I went to Moran’s. Jim knew what I was talking about and helped me pick out precisely what I wanted and needed. I now have an oven that delivers consistently accurate temperatures and a rangetop that is brightly illuminated, a refrigerator that has a freezer drawer on the bottom (which saves my back and makes it easier to find things) and dishwasher that doesn’t leak! Best of all is my Speed Queen Washer (which you can’t get it those department stores) that actually gets the clothes Clean in about half the time and is warranted for 10 years and boasts it will last 25! (I Got rid of two Home Depot washing machines in five years because they were horrible!) I love everything Jim sold me. He also gave me instructions and tips concerning the operation of the appliances that were very helpful, he obviously knows his products. And even the installation and delivery men were mindful of my house, helpful, and informative. And the prices were very conservative and competitive. I just got so much more. I recommend him highly !!...
