COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL I’m new to Meridian, I’m sure that MCC is a fine establishment. I have no problems with the school in general. But their cosmetology program is SEVERELY neglected, and I do have a problem with that!! I am a licensed hairstylist in the state of Florida, I have been doing hair for over 7 years and I won’t go through the long story of how I ended up being in MCC’s Cosmetology School for around two months (300 hours). But I will say that I have been in cosmetology school before and I have never in my life witnessed something so horribly unorganized. The teachers are awful, they did nothing to prepare me for the state board exams (which is the whole reason I was there) and they are unhelpful to the other students. They pick and choose what they let the students do. They do weird things that don’t make any sense. Everybody is mean to each other. I felt like I was in prison/day care/hell the whole time I was there. Many past students have filed complaints about the instructors and nothing has been done. I have no time to get into those politics with the school. But I will leave a review incase someone see it and gets it through their heads that they should look into this program. I am not happy with my experience, and I’m heartbroken for the people that I have met that are still in this school because they have paid to be there. I will not recommend anyone to this program. Some kind of investigation needs to be done. They can’t keep sending out unprepared...
Read moreMy experience with MCC has been a two part journey..first time I went here was first out of Meridian High so I was young and so very full of myself..if you know what I mean and I didn't that my education as serious as I was expected to..I found my self distracted by the freedom that came with College..so much so that before I knew it..I found myself on probation..and instead of talking with the ever so helpful staff back then..I simply gave up up on the idea of finishing. Fast forward 25 years later. My sons are now both graduated from high school, and I thought maybe now is the perfect time to pick up where I left off. So enough about my life..the whole point of my story is ..it's not to late for anyone to go back to school to get thier GED or even thier AA Degree..you are only limited by the limits you put on yourself..MCC offers great scholarships and grants to easily help you to afford that education that you always wanted but nevered dreamed you could have..'Cause I was the oldest person in my class of students, but I didn't let that stop or discourage me. MCC would love to hear from you, and you can explore...
Read moreI had graduated from Meridian Community College back in 2011 and received my degree in Associate of Science in Medical Office Technology and Medical Billing & Coding Technology which is now Medical Office Management Technology. There also needs to be a Registered Medical Assistant credential added to their Medical Assistant Technology program. The Registered Medical Assistant Exam would be another good option to Registered Nurse. There also needs to be a Dialysis Technician or Hemodialysis Technician, GI/Endoscopy Technician, Anesthesia Technician, OB/GYN Technician, Ultrasound Technician or Diagnostic Medical Sonography for Cardiovascular Sonography and Abdomen/OB Sonography specialities workforces training program. I see Mississippi State University has a Hemodialysis Technician workforce training program, but it is very expensive. There also needs to be a PSI test center added to this campus. There are only 4 PSI Testing Centers in the State of Mississippi. There also needs to be a Histology Technician and Cardiovascular...
